Hey Andrew! I used to follow you back in the day (vertical summit days) and noticed that you shifted away from vertical jump training some time ago. I guess I could pore over your whole log to get an answer, but it would be quicker if I just asked you lol. So what happened to the jumping Andrew Darqui that made him become an endurance guy?

P.S. What do you think your current SVJ/RVJ numbers are? LOL

yo! well, jumping adarq was a transition away from basketball, boxing (with running/jump rope) etc.. so i've always been more of an endurance guy. Toward the tail end of when I was dunking, I had started to get back into running & I was transitioning into single leg jumping. All was going good until single leg jumping started becoming very painful.. then i dno, I just drifted away for some reason. Fast forward ~3 years later, I started to train again. So i've been training for about a year now, but, very consistently the last ~6 months or so. As for endurance/running, i'm just going to try and improve more of my "natural talents", which has historically been endurance related.

Current L-SLRVJ might be ~28" or so. I plan to get some jumping in once I get more adapted to speed/power work, so we'll find out eventually. I'd LOVE to get SLRVJ back up to 35", that'd be incredible. I'm not lifting so, could be quite difficult. I'd like for it to be more of a byproduct of jumping & my other training though.

As for SVJ.. dno, maybe 20" or so? Probably very bad. :)

Football / Re: Combine Videos
« on: February 18, 2016, 02:13:25 pm »
are these events strictly for college athletes or anyone who has a good record can join, this way they can join the NFL if they are any good. If so they should do this for the NBA, as in the NBA you need to be in college and play basketball to have any chance.

ya you have to be invited to the NFL combine, which means (for the most part) you need to have played ~3 years of college football.

nba has a combine, but they don't televise it like the NFL.. they should though.

i dno. if you havn't done max effort short sprints in a long time, i'd expect quads (and hams/glutes if you do more than acceleration) to get somewhat sore the first time.

Schools are a big pain in the ass, I've almost had that happen to me when there was a new track coach but the womens track coach knew who I was so she let me stay there to run and throw.

damn nice. Only high schools near me, but can't do that around here. Security is tight & policies are strict.

I have no universities nearby, otherwise i'd use their track.

Still those seem like fast ass times haha

...

Crazy, crazy shit, I still feel so weird after this dream. I put my clock to wake me up at 20:45, it woke me, I stopped it, and now it's 21:22 and all this time (more or less) I dreamed about this thing, being between sleeping and being awake.

I wonder how long that dream actually lasted. Could have been a few seconds or minutes.

dammit got kicked off the track. It started off good too.. First two miles (8 laps) were 6:19 and 6:27.

Apparently the h.s. nearby leases the ENTIRE park.

so there goes that idea.. I have a big oval-ish area at another park I can use, but it's not a track.

whoa. calves feel pretty good. can't feel anything in my right one, a little tight in my left. good news considering yesterday I basically did the same thing I did last Friday (which destroyed me).

i strongly doubt "too old" :) seems like these changes should help. hope so!

you could also add "eat more" to your list, but not this week. if you're still looking for some extra recovery, maybe next week just to see.
