Not the biggest fan of Jackie Chan but loved him in Rush Hour.. remember seeing 1 & 2 in the theater, lol fest.

I'm ah not sure we can be friends anymore...

lmfao.

Man you should at least check out Wheels on Meals (with subtitles if you can stand reading them). This is where I'd start and probably the one JC movie I watch the most. Drunken Master 2, Police Story 1, Project A, Dragons Forever and Miracles (Mr Canton and Lady Rose) are all great movies too and I had a hard time limiting the list.

yeah i watched several of his earlier movies, the ones with subtitles. definitely impressive stunts, he is a beast.

:/

I suppose I'm biased and it's probably not the general type of movie that most people would watch all the time.

Diet update-
Haven’t been eating too badly lately but it’s the additions to the diet that have been the issue. Chocolate, ice cream, chips, etc and alcohol. I topped out at 95kgs early last week. Consistent sugar cravings are the real issue. Went 30 days without alcohol or junk food earlier this year with great results. The wife suggested this one which is slightly more aggressive but still has the same approach as an elimination diet. www.whole30.com In short you cut out dairy, grains, added sugars and alcohol for 30 days. Then you can reintroduce if you want.
Started on Monday so am 4 days in. Feeling a bit weird at times with some brain fog. I’m assuming it’s the lack of sugars, Have been super hungry too and have been smashing potatoes, eggs and fruit like it’s going out of business. Need to eat more meat. Cannot have whey as it’s from dairy so bought egg white protein which isn’t the nicest and is super expensive.
The good news is that although I’ve been eating as much as I want I’m down to 89.3kg as of this morning even though I’ve trained only once this week. Feeling a bit smaller than I’d like but my joints definitely like what’s going on. Secretly hoping I can get to sub 87 without too much effort.  I haven’t noticed a lot of pain that I used to get too which is kinda cool. I’m missing rice, oats and whey the most but it will be interesting to see what happens when I reintroduce them. I definitely know I have a minor intolerance to milk but not sure what effect the other foods have on me.

damn that gym looks sick... I'm jelly

 :motherofgod:

Man that's not even half of it. Well it's probably about half but there's heaps more stuff that I've never had access to. Glute ham raise, reverse hyper, etc. All that stuff. There's also a resisted tyre flip machine. Took a photo and will put it up shortly. They've got a jacobs ladder too which is a resisted ladder climbing machine.

Going to be fun trying all this new stuff out. Almost makes me want to do cardio  :ninja:

bw- ?
Injuries- none
Soreness- calves & feet
Fasted session- coffee and water only

New gym today!!! Got my ass out of bed at 4.45 and went to the Derrimut gym down the road. When I say down the road it's 15 minutes away but it's a beast of a gym and only $10 per week. Equipment is incredible!

Warm up- lots of warm up being so early.

Squats- bar x 10, 60 x 5, 80 x 5, 100 x 3, 110 x 5
Tuck front lever x 5s x 4
Box Jump- 20" x 3 x 4

Dips- bw x 8, 6, 5
Back bridge x 10s x 3

Incline Bench- bar x 10, 40 x 5, 60 x 4, 4, 3

Hollow Body- 30s x 2
Front split rear knee taps- 5kg x 10 x 2

Hanging x 40s

All done in 60m. Felt great. Motivation is back in a big way. Only got 4-5 hours sleep last night but that's ok. I will deal with that later.
Was able to have my morning coffee without waking the entire house too. Brewed some coffee last night bodum style and put it in a flask to keep warm. Was the perfect temperature this morning to drink before the gym. #winning

Here's the gym

Reading adarq's journal got me internalising motivation so I thought I'd just blog it down here rather than hijacking his journal. Anyway
100% agree with the motivation factor. I've been slacking with it as well. Sometimes I'll go through phases of being motivated and wanting to put in effort but than there'll be other times where I just think realistic/negatively and wonder what I'm trying to do or achieve!?  I love sprinting but the injuries were just killing me and it's such a solitary sport, let alone when you're not at an elite level with any training partners. Obviously with sprinting there's no subjectivity it's just you against the clock, although there's never the perfect race. I was just in such a rut and constantly overweight/injured that I couldn't do anything. I pretty much pissed away 2014/2015/2016, which were prime years of athletic life.

Personally I have found getting back into rugby league has been good for me this year. At least with rugby league even if I'm doing nothing extra I'm committed to training a couple times each week with my team mates and going out and playing a game on the weekends. But then even now I'm still not committed to dieting, I still overindulge with alcohol, and I've got pissweak motivation for going to the gym. However, what is there to push me? What am I trying to achieve? I don't know. All I know is I've got to force myself to start going to the gym again and lifting weights. As for rugby league the focus will just be on scoring tries and hopefully winning a premiership this year with the Bulldogs. Think less do more...

You're not alone mate. I think a lot of us go through these times where we question what we're really doing and why. I ask myself on a daily basis why I'm not just another gym bro. Things would be so much easier. I'd think about training less and probably get much better results too. Also, you need to cut yourself some slack. How old is your son now? My life basically got put on hold in 2009 when my son was born.

As for motivation I think it just comes and goes unless you have momentum or a group to train with. Like you said, rugby is keeping you involved so at the least you know that side is covered. You'll get back into the gym eventually. I've been on and off since late Feb but bit the bullet this morning and got up at 4.45 to go to a new gym. Motivation is back but it took a good 4 months.

*Edit- I also question why I'm doing what I'm doing regularly but get sharp reminders every now and then. Had one on the weekend watching my 7 year old son do gymnastics and doing handstands, chin ups, push ups, flips, etc. Makes me want to be better than, or at least be able to keep up with him.

john wick 1 was atrocious.... first 25% was good and suspenseful than he just started slaughtering everyone like duck hunt..... sure sure.... very suspenseful ......

C'mon man it's a revenge flick. There's suspense till someone important dies and then it's pure revenge fuelled violence.

Watched John Wick: Chapter 2 the other night-

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4425200/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Not as good as the first. More forced, bad dialogue, even worse Ruby Rose character (thank god she's mute). Action is second to none though. Just great fight choreo altogether.

Also, saw King Arthur with my son a couple of weeks back-

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1972591/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Seriously loved this and don't know why it hasn't been met with more love elsewhere. Having a story like this told by Guy Ritchie in classic snatch/lock stock style is great. I really hope the rest of films get the green light. Also, if you haven't heard it get onto the podcast Ritchie did with Rogan. I mean, I know Guy is a smart uh...guy, but he's next level when it comes to some of his history and archetypes and stuff. Well worth the investment.

I remember enjoying John Wick 1.. Saw 2 on Wednesday & didn't finish it :/ Good action but like you said, forced & weak dialogue. I got bored.

Oh, if they did a "The Equalizer" sequel i'd be interested.. Denzel.

On that note, I re-watched "Bourne Ultimatum" today... I forgot how good that was. It's hard to find a sequel that's better than the original IMHO.. For example:

Mission Impossible 1 (of the remakes with Tom Cruise) - man that was epic.. None of the others came close to the original.
Point Break - All copies of the sequel should be burned. The original is a "cult classic".
Predator - Some of the sequels were ok, but nothing like the original.

But then you have Bourne & Bourne Ultimatum .. Another one that comes to mind is Die Hard & Die Hard 3 with Jeremy Irons & Samuel Jackson. Actually Bad Boys 2 was pretty good also. I'm just naming some action movies that came to the top of my head.

I wanted to watch both Point Break & Mission Impossible 1 the other day.

There's some movies I can just watch all of the time:
- Heat
- Point Break
- Fight Club
- Mission Impossible
- Predator
- Crimson Tide
- Deja Vu
- Die Hard
- Die Hard 3
- The Departed
- Above The Rim
- Training Day
- Minority Report
- Se7en
- Rounders

dno just a few off the top of my head that I don't think i've ever gotten bored with. I left out tons of really good movies, but even with some great movies I left out, I can't watch them all the time.

Yeah I watched Wick 2 over 2 nights. Couldn't make it through in 1. The first one just seemed effortless. I'm assuming there'll be a third too which is kinda sad.

The Bourne movies definitely stand up. MI1 is great. I'm actually a fan of 2 as well. The action got if for me. Sounds like we're of a similar vintage though. So many great movies on that list. My only problem these days is I'm trending away from deep movies due to lack of time/brainpower. Where I would have watched Fight Club, Se7en, Training Day, etc a few years ago I would now pick something easy and fun.

My top movies I can watch at anytime are:
Point Break
White Men Can't Jump
Bad Boys 1 or 2
White Chicks
Dumb and Dumber
Me Myself and Irene
Anything Jackie Chan up to 2000 with selected titles after that
Any golden era Arnie or Sly

Yeah I saw King Arthur too. As much as I love Guy Ritchie and lock stock+snatch are both phenomenal movies King Arthur was kinda average at best. His style just feels kind of forced for this particular movie. I thought the CGI was hella good and I loved it from a designers perspective but goddamn with that kind of budget you better make a damn masterpiece and the generic storyline and not a whole lot of depth to the characters is pretty boring imo. They were gonna make it into a trilogy???! jesus.

Will have to check out that podcast though  ;D

Yeah I see where you're coming from. I liked when it broke into typical Ritchie style dialogue then reverted back to "normal style" after. From what I understand it was going to be an origin story style movie with more characters introduced after. Merlin, etc.

Definitely check out the podcast. It's worth the 2 hours.

Finally on the tail end of this virus. Woke up tired this morning but no coughing and now feeling pretty good. Cannot wait to get back into the gym but concerned what momentum I had built is lost. Oh well, will get in there tonight and see where I'm at.
