I watched Brooklyn play at Golden State a couple of weeks back and they were really lucky not to lose that one. Klay wasn't playing and Curry was actually off for once. Brook Lopez missed a 3ft tip in to win the game last second of regulation before it went to overtime. I think Brooklyn had only one win at that point too so it was surprising.

I think it'll take that sort of game, Curry off, key player injured, or rusty from back end of a back to back for them to lose. Curry is so redic though with how easy he makes the game come to him. I'm actually really happy he's becoming the face of the NBA bc he can inspire a generation of kids to work on their skills (shooting, dribbling, etc.) He's a lot more enjoyable to watch then say a Lebron who relies a lot on size and athleticism.

Happy birthday man !

He definitely normalized his training a bit later on and was making really good progress. That's the thing about writing down your ideas and posting them, you hear about it when you're talking nonsense.

I also think he had some good ideas. If anything, being inventive adds to the passion of it all and could be useful in the right context. But boy did he have some whacky/ hilarious ones. Avishek drops are a classic.

2) What's up with the armswing, by the way? Some people can do single leg bounds really well with a double arm swing, yet when I try to do them I start to rotate around, so I have to do them like Eddie is doing them in that video - single arm. This is also true for 1-leg jumps - if I use a double arm swing I start to rotate to the left, so I use a single arm swing to compensate for that. Not to mention that in a double arm swing jump the jumping leg gets sooooo overloaded from all that "weight" being applied onto it... I guess if I were stronger I could use a double arm swing but I'm not. So IMO a double arm swing jump is more powerful, a single arm swing is "quicker".

I wonder what do you think about these issues?

I agree with that last statement Raptor. I naturally use a double arm swing when bounding and I felt powerful and got good distances with it. However, I wanted to use bounds to help me sprint faster and noticed the longer ground contact times weren't translating over too well.

I learned to use a single arm swing and gave myself the que of get off the ground quicker. Seemed to work and translated over to sprinting a bit better as well.

Sorry for thread hijack

I'm a big fan as well. Wegmans sells some quality stuff around me. I'm sure most whole foods stores do as well.

I agree with Merrick that you jump the way your body's strengths allow you to. I would also add to that that it seems your eccentric strength isn't up to par with your concentric strength. I think that's the case because of the way you naturally pause before the jump and maybe even the way you land (if that's not you deliberately not trying).

I'd suggest one day of eccentric strength work a week to balance out with how strong you are with the concentric portion. Maybe something like:

Depth drops
Eccentric squats focusing on purposely dropping with speed and catching yourself at the bottom
Eccentric bench press (same idea)
Etc

I think even if I'm wrong in what I'm seeing that would help your nervous system and body adapt to the absorbing force portion of the jump better and help you no matter what. But I think concentrically you're strong enough to jump higher.

Foam rolling : IT bands & quads, 3x5 very slow rolls each, with some pausing at points of most discomfort.
Stretch : quads, hamstrings, hip flexors, glutes, calves , 1m30s each position and leg.
:highfive:

Nothing like a good active recovery. One of my fav sessions lol

^^ LBSS, correct me if I'm wrong but I think coordinating a team and plays is more tactics not technique. Technical would be how the running back positions his body while running, taking a hit, etc. Or how the linemen push off or hold their opponent from getting to the QB.

I watch some football but I'm basing that idea on soccer terms. So I may be wrong. My thinking is technique involves indvidual skill and tactics involves the team as a unit.

I also want to add that football players work on their combine skills specifically with combine specific coaches and I doubt basketball players do. Not like their numbers wouldn't be sick as it is.

the precision required to run the tactics properly requires extremely refined technique. the pulling guard in Power has to move very quickly around several other huge men who are all pushing the shit out of each other, without tripping over them, while staying aware of what several other players on his team and the other team are doing. receivers have to run routes exactly to where they're supposed to go and when. and so on. every position is more technical than it looks, even running back.

trust me, as a fan who has spent the last five years cringing as my team's players mostly failed to develop the skills required to play their positions well, technique is really important and it has to be taught/learned.

Yea I got you and I agree. Patriots come to mind and they don't seem to ever have ridiculous athletes, just a combination of solid players that fit and know the system well.

Really quick read, I just find it incredibly valuable to know that the best athlete in the world training for 10 events has training sessions lasting no more than an hour (although I'm sure he must do two sessions a couple days a week at least).

Man needs more recognition too, he's insane!

^^ I don't see anything wrong with this Brandon Roy exercise unless I'm missing something. And unless this video was after his knee injuries, which it looks earlier than that to me ^^

Shame they couldn't keep a player like that in the league and healthy.

Enjoy the vaca man! Some bounds and sprints on the beach would def be a fun and good way to not completely detrain.
