worked on this the last few days:

actually works.. need to do a few more things before I can implement it into the forum-rewrite project. If and when I implement it, i'll be able to remove like 10k lines of code... and instead rely on this library to auto-generate all of that code, and more... sounds like a dream, can't wait.

The last thing I need to do, for now, is move everything to RWST and generate the lens fields for purescript. Once that is done... I should be able to do a massive pruning of my code base. I'd like to also figure out a way to generate api routines for the purescript client.... Havn't thought of a great way to do it yet but, i'd like to actually get something working there too so that I can rip out all of that code too.

This saves my life for one major reason: say tomorrow I want to add the ability for people to have blogs on the site.. well I need a blog type, blog comments type, blog comment ratings, blog rating, blog subscribers types etc.. So, then i'd have to code those out in haskell AND purescript while blood squirts furiously from my eyeballs. Instead, now i'll just be able to write the types in haskell and auto-generate all of the purescript code as well as the json instances for haskell too.

fuck ya, basically.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that Big Bern destroyed Hilldog last night.  Once I saw that he wasn't a gun grabber like Hillary I became a little bit more at ease if he were to win.

bernie is a beast

btw there's like 0 gun grabbers. obama was supposed to be the for real this time gun grabber.. look how that turned out. lol

i dont think he destroyed her unfortunately. he needs to get better at answering the gun questions.. that's one area where he's always too passive. he needs to be alot more aggressive in explaining why you shouldnt be able to sue a gun manufacturer who is making a legal product. i don't get liberals who are for that. asking him to apologize for a logical policy stance is typical snaky hillary.. bernie has said that if she wants him to apologize to sandy hook victims, she should apologize to families of fallen soldiers killed in iraq. dno why he didnt hit her with that. maybe too much for the deb8 stage, or it slipped his mind like usual. wish he'd tighten up on that shit.. like when she told him it's not a laughing matter (when he was laughing while she was talking about guns), but she laughs in response to everything he says.. this is all stupid imagery stuff but he's just not great at seizing those moments in debates.

fuck took a while to type (one handed while icing my lame elbow)

Hillary has said before that the first thing she wants to do if she gets elected is to ban pistols and to look into Australias gun laws aka confiscation.

do you haz url to that? not saying I don't believe it, just couldn't find it in my lame google searches. I found some stuff on 'ontheissues.org' (good site) but couldn't find anything specific to that.

no one there to throw lobs but i was getting up pretty good. hurt elbow jamming the dodgeball down too hard on third jump and kind of shut my CNS down. wasn't planning for this to be a PR session anyway. tomorrow.

also, my friend at work told our boss (the CEO) that i had dunked and he didn't believe her, so i showed him the slow-mo video with the dodgeball. his jaw literally dropped.  :ibjumping:

hah nice. is he athletic? Most athletic people seem to be impressed by dunking, because I imagine 99% of them have wanted to dunk, but haven't (and also haven't trained for it). It's jaw dropping for most athletic people because i've imagined they've tried at least once to simply hit the rim.

I'm gonna give you some advice that I haven't been able to follow myself... By a grippy super inflated ball and learn the self lob!  I can't push this too hard on you because I've practiced it for probably about 50 tries and cannot figure it out for the life of me....  But it's gotta be something learnable!

From talking to dunkers that can do it they tell me that it's actually much much easier to catch a self lob off the bounce near the rim than to catch an alley oop because if you do it perfectly you actually catching a floating object rather than one that is traveling in the air...

Also I know you told me your goal was dunking in any way shape or form including alley oops but I think it would be more impressive if someone asks if you can dunk and you pull up proof of yourself throwing a self lob and throwing it down than catching an oop... To the layman a self lob is truly dunking by yourself!

Maybe you could begin my just finishing your sessions with 30-50 self lobs where you just do the toss but don't even jump... Just practicing the toss to get to where you can consistently get the ball to bounce up near the rim at the perfect height won't tire out your legs at all and will get you to at least the first step towards dunking from a self toss...

It's great that your more consistent with jumping ability but we all know how fickle the brain and the legs can be... Who knows when the day is when you just happen to be jumping 38" inches will be... It would such a shame that on that day you happen to not have anyone around who can toss you lobs!  A decent self lob in your back pocket might just allow you to document your dunk on that very best day rather than the best day when you happen to have a patient and good lob thrower around...

Either do this OR pay someone to come to the gym every time you jump and throw you lobs!  You have reached a once in a lifetime goal (seriously bask in this, I train all kinds of athletes and you don't know how many "better" athletes than you that are also taller that tell me it's a bucket list goal to dunk but haven't achieved what you have), before you move to the Near East let's get the best of the best of this on tape.   Also before jumping days cut moderately the volume and intensity of your daily routine but do not drop it!

34 inches on the one step is beast!

definitely. the first step is a hyper inflated ball. I bought a ball a few months ago, and even though i've inflated it 'to the max', it sucks. For some reason that Reebok basketball I had, was my favorite lob ball because man it had serious bounce.

Another tip, you can leave the ball in your car (in florida at least) earlier that morning. By the time you go dunk, it'll be a rocket.

If you were to attempt the self lob route, which ya I also recommend.. I'd get a ball, hyper inflate it, do all of your jumps like you normally do in your session. Then when you're basically done jumping max, just throw several lobs and get it to bounce up near the rim. If you find you're able to do it pretty consistently, start doing some light runup/jumps and just try to touch the ball (or fuck it, smack it like you're blocking someone, sounds fun) when it's up near the rim.

If you did that at least once in a while, it should slowly sink in.. and who knows, you might actually be really good at throwing lobs once you get a crazy bouncy ball.

A very bouncy ball just makes it so much easier.. in order to emulate that with a less bouncy ball, you have to throw it so much higher.. which really throws everything off IMHO.

I can't seem to find that ball anywhere.. so I tried looking in a few vids, can't find the exact model.

It looked something like this:

So this happened today: PR'd my full squat clean at 100kg!  :personal-record: This was the first time I was able to full clean those two plates.

nice!!

Quote
Then I got a bit overzealous and tried 110kg which I'm able to powerclean on a good day. Was able to catch it but I had so much backward lean that I fell backwards with the bar as I wasn't properly able to drop it. The bar hit my stomach pretty hard but luckily I didn't really injure myself. That shit was scary and kinda dumb. I'm probably gonna stay with the powervariations for now. Not worth the time/effort to focus on learning the full lifts atm. Wish I had a video of that failed lift so I would be able to look at it. haha! :uhhhfacepalm: :uhhhfacepalm:

wtf? lucky you're ok.. sounds like you could have gotten injured.

damn!

im trying to think of the worst gym fail i've had.. can't really remember many, lucky for me I always had safety pins set for squatting. Actually, I think the worst was maybe trying 60 lb. on standing DB overhead press and the DB was tilted too much, and then all of the plates slid off, even though they were clipped. Almost caught me in the head, then foot. but I slipped em`.

thanks :D

some of the clips where they make like ~6 passes are just beautiful. This GSW team is so unselfish, so fun to watch.

also Curry is just so ridiculous, I can't get over how good this dude has become. Man o man he destroys Kawhi Leonard in this vid, with AND without the ball.

unless the Heat make it to the finals, i'll be hoping GSW can seal the deal and get that 2nd ring.  ;D

left heel a bit achy.. both bottoms of feet a bit sore. sacral spine issue flaring up a little.

got so damn tired of serializing my types between haskell/purescript finally.. i can't take it anymore.. so, started modifying someones library to automatically do it for me:

https://github.com/adarqui/purescript-interop/tree/exp

that's the fork.. i'm probably going to upload my own version and give him credit for the base idea.. but my version will be alot simpler. I'm basically creating an internal representation of some types, then going to allow you to generate output based on different codecs.. i also have to generate lenses and fields.. and map various types to other types.. and output files based on a module directory hierarchy.. bleh tons of shit to do... but my initial experiment worked.. so I THINK i'll be able to auto-generate ALL of my types, json, and MAYBE even API code.. that'd be damn nuts and would save me tons of time.

going to work on that all day tomorrow, and subsequent days until I get it done.. coding shit twice is just too brutal.. need to auto-generate all of this stuff.
