I don't think weight has a lot to do with it. Running shoes are just soft and deform to easy. I can't ME jump off two in running shoes either. The speed of my plant is too much for them to handle in any direction. Its another reason I like my basketball shoes to be very 'low riding'. The lower the footbed to the floor the more stable I feel.

What Vag said is correct. The Kobe 8s are pretty much spot on for what you want it seems.

Vag, the only difference between the XX8s and SF2s is (basically) the shroud, which I didn't like. Now that Ive had them both on the feel almost identical in terms of comfort, motion, etc.

From what Ive felt, seen and heard the best bball shoes this year are the XX8s, SF2s, CP3 6s, Kobe 8s and the 2013 Hyperdunk (which was a fantastic shoe just cut too high for me personally). Of those only the Kobe is a low although the CP3 is very 'low-riding' and in that regard is on par with the Kobe 8. The XX8s and SF2s are just a little higher riding.

Define responsive (how you take it)?

On a limb I'd suggest the Kobe 8s. Low top, very flexible/soft. Only issue is they wear fast outdoors from the reviews I've seen, I *think* they're available in a XDR outsole which would help immensely but give up some traction. I didn't get the Kobe 8s simply because of the fact they were a low top. Other than that fact I loved them (more than the Super Fly 2s actually) but I have my reservations (probably unfounded lol) on my style of play in a low top.

I may film a ME jump tomorrow if I feel up to it and see just how much I've lost...I'm kind of scared too lol!

The guys won in my absence Thursday night by forfeit so we're 2-0 currently. And today I got a call saying I was being moved within the company and I'm back on days with a raise!!!! Awesome! I am at a new location so I have a 45 minute to an hour commute vs my old half hour but it should be worth it.

Also just received my new shoes for ball (Jordan Super Fly 2, couldn't find any around here smh) so I think I'll lift tonight and break the shoes in tomorrow with some hoops!

Wow, that may be the first time I've seen Justin jump off one...impressive as fuck.

Well, no more ball for me. Had two guys get fired on night shift today and that means I get moved to nights. Nights suck. Blah.

Id say Green jumps higher. Better dunker? In game its Vince no question.  Hell I'd put serious consideration on Kobe being a better game dunker than Green. Dunk contest? Well....that I would want to see. Vince has the power and a slight edge in creativity but Green just fuckin flies. Period.

Won our first game! Yay! I got there earlier than usual to make sure I was warmed up and ready to go and the achilles felt good so I started the game and played all 20 minutes in the first half. Jumper was absolutely money tonight to about 25 feet. Had 24 points in the first half and we were up 50-29 so I shut it down and didnt play the second half. Final score was 99-85.

Notes from the game: jumper and handle were on point. Lateral quickness is back to basically 100%. Vertical is missing 4-5" on both SVJ and RVJ from what I can tell. Had one shot at an alley oop but I wasn't getting up high enough off one step so I laid it in. Had one huge block that got the guys yelling so that was awesome. Overall: not bad under the circumstances. Very happy with team D and rebounding tonight.

Could be very slow twitch dominant?  Is he fast? Quick first step? Changes directions quickly?

Ive know a few guys who look just jacked and cant jump/run at all. Either the muscle isnt trained properly.for the activity or they just arent coordinated enough to translate it properly.

Thanks LBSS! That's exactly what the PT said. My plan is to limit minutes this week and just feel it out slowly. Lots of jumpers instead of drives lol! The biggest thing is making sure its warmed up properly and is thoroughly stretched. We'll find out soon enough!

Got the go ahead to start really pushing myself again!!! I estimate I'm about 90% fully healed as there is small discomfort on ME jumps but my pt said go ahead and see what you can do. :)

Good timing as well....first league game is tomorrow night lol! I'm going to show up.early and make sure I'm warmed up well and the achilles is stretched nicely and then see what happens.

Games will be on Tues and Thurs so I'm moving lifting to Friday and Sunday if I can recover well enough. Goal is to get back to where I was pre-injury vert wise and maintain strength as best I can.

Went to the court today and just jumped. Missing some explosiveness as to be expected but I didn't lose as much as I thought I would. Put down a few nice dunks and generally felt pain free, just some discomfort going for max effort stuff. Hopefully those few inches will come back in a few weeks with some work and I can start working for more gains again!

March 16 2014.

I played today! Didnt go too hard and spent a good 40 mins warming up and stretching my achilles out before hand but managed to play.

Once I break a good sweat its not very sore unless I make a max effort jump or a hard SVJ. RVJs up to about 80 maybe 85% max have no discomfort! Was able to 2 hand dunk of the dribble a few times and caught a two hander off glass without pain so its coming around. All in all I'm very pleased for today. Now to stretch and ice!
