Alrighty. Went and shot around and jumped for the first time in a long time (sans game days) and I'm slightly disappointed in my jumps but not too bad considering the circumstances.

Bad: No consistent lifting since February, body weight at 179-182lbs (ughhhhh), and haven't had any jumping sessions in a long time.

Good: still got a few dunks down, max vert was around 41 maybeeee 42". Definitely not back to where it was.

So, with these factors and games on Tue/Thu my plan is this:

-Train Friday/Sun, games on Tues/Thu
-start weights out low and work upward, stay explosive in the lift (no grinding), cutting back on upper body volume
-get weight back to the lower 170s range
-spend some time on ME jumps after games since I'll be warm/loose

Goal is to be back around a 45" vert in 4-6 weeks then re-evaluate and push for more.

Few updates. I haven't been in the weight room in a few weeks just been playing on game days so twice a week. Finally had back to back days were my achilles was completely ache/pain/soreness free. Huge improvements lately with it. Feels 100% for the first time. Soooo with that said im going to ease back into a weight lifting routine.  Since I wasn't 100% I was able to get the Select tryout moved back into the summer. My buddy that ive been training went to their Atlanta camp and came away as one of three guys chosen for the team. He's stoked!

So thats my updates lol! Hopefully I can start logging religiously again!

Eh different strokes for different folks. I do agree with Raptor that we sensationalize when good (or just aggressive) defenders get 'broke' or dunked on more than when they make a big play. I think that's what's wrong with a lot of todays younger players. They're afraid to be 'put on a poster' or whatever so they let stuff go. Prime example is with LBJ. When's the last time you saw a defender rotate over and go after a LeBron dunk? (THANK YOU PLUMLEE!!! Lol) It doesn't happen with todays guys. In the 90s it didnt matter. You got dunked on, it happens, go get it back at the other end. Game is weaker today.

While I agree its not the greatest cross ever being 'fast' has zero to do with the 'lethality' of a move. Usually change of pace works better at killing a defenders COG.

Anyway, original point: that move is hard to do in a stationary set. He did it on the run. If you disagree with this I shall ask you to perform the move at a similar pace lol

Nice pic Raptor! I wonder if that was his first jump or in a series of jumps?

Raptor.....no, just no.

Yes, Iggy is a world class athlete but that move is hard to do in a half court set, there's only a handful of players that do that in a fast break situation. It's impressive.

Oh, and fuck yea the defender slipped and fell! Watch the vid closely at 24-25 seconds, he fell because Iggy's first crossover but him in a horrible position. He didn't 'just' slip and fall. The offensive player created the opportunity/situation then immediately changed directions exacerbating the problem for the hapless defender.

Still not greatest ever though. JWill on the Glove anyone?

We lost Tuesday by 4. 115-111. I played the last 47 seconds. SMH. New hours at work mean I'm going to miss basically every 'early' game. What kills me is I KNOW we would have destroyed this team if I had played. I know that sounds cocky but there's just no way we lose with another scorer on the floor. Sucks.

So I took my frustration/anger out in some pickup games on the other courts. Jumper and handle was on point which made me even madder lol! I missed a putback attempt because I couldn't control the ball, stupid small hands! Made up for it a few minutes later with what I thought was my first SL dunk in a game in years (think like 10 lol pre knee injury in high school). I wasn't quite sure what happened because I didnt feel very boucy so I checked the goal after the game... it was lowered to ~9'10" . -___-

And that was my Tuesday.  I need to get back in the weight room on a schedule. Too varied lately. Achilles is weird, some days it feels fine, others it'll be sore until I get it warm. Sigh.

Yea, probably going to cut back on some volume and replace it with some conditioning work. Which means the hops probably won't go up any lol but thats ok for a short time.

I forsee lob city 2 soon. ;)

Well....realized how exactly out of shape I am. WOW.

My buddy who will be trying out at the USA Select tryouts and I got worked out by a former overseas coach (currently works with the Atlanta Hawks! And played for Flip Saunders O_o ) and man my legs are fried. Lol! Learned a ton   though and it was very eye opening. They're trying to get me to go tryout with my buddy but IDK, im not in competitive game shape. Rec league yea...but with only 4 weeks I'm not sure I could get where I need to be. I'll think about it.

If my legs can recover then I'll hit the weights later.

Awesome day!!!

We lost. Correction, we got hammered.  141-108. No lie they probably had 20+ offensive rebounds. Just too much size and length. Even at that it was a 14 point game with just over 10 to play and we went cold. I played like crap...well I shot like crap. I don't know what was wrong, I was missing shots I normally hit in my sleep. They felt good, they looked good but they went in and out all night. Case in point was a finger roll I laid up; over the rim, cant miss right? Wrong, rolled around the rim twice and spun out. Bah. Also had a dunk go halfway down and out. Granted a 6'4" guy kind of got a hand on it on the way up and I didn't have the best control but it should have been a damn good poster.  If I have my usual game then this game would have been a real good one. I'm taking the blame for this L and saying F it and moving on.

May have a nice workout set up tomorrow,  we shall see. Definitely weights at night though.

Oh and the hops are slowly coming back, it was a little easier to get up quickly tonight so thats a good sign.

Its cool. I like shoes and it sort of pertains to jumping lol! :)

Won tonight 112-80. Team played pretty well but to be honest this was a game we should have won anyway. I dropped 34 and had a couple sick no look dishes to the guys when I drove and the D collapsed. Had a huge opportunity to have a big baseline dunk but literally as I was going up there was a foul called. Bah. Got it anyway with just under 2 mins to play when my guy got lost on a screen. I got it clean with one hand but I stepped on a defenders foot in my plant and didn't get up nearly as well as I wanted. Still...it was kind of 'on' the defender even though he couldn't jump since I stepped on his foot by accident lol!

We have a big test coming on Thursday, the team we'll be up against has a 6'7 260+ lb post...who can shoot and dribble. he used to play wing in college and even though he's put on 50lbs he can still ball, its crazy to watch. They also start a 6'5 wing and a 6'2 pg, so we're height disadvantaged at almost every position. Should be a fun challenge.

I tried on the KD VIs, felt awesome but the tongue design is stupid. If they had a normal styled tongue I would've picked up a pair.
