wow that messi free kick, top corner, a tough area for most goal keepers if not all to reach. bravo.
Messi is just out of this world.

ya, amazing.

chile vs colombia had some crazy weather, damn.. field was so flooded.

chile vs argentina in the final... should be really good.

Yes, phones those days are real beasts.
I am also looking to replace mine currently, so i have done a bit of research.
Best ones on the market are : iphone 6s, HTC 10 and Samsung S7 edge.
Next ones ( still prime zone but not as good as the above 3 ) : Huawei p9 , LG G5 , Oneplus 3, Samsung s7 ( the simple one, not edge )
The androids have better hardware , they give better benchmarks ratings, but at the real-time speed tests the iphone 6s is faster ( damn iOs ). Differences are too small anyway, it all comes down to personal preference. Iphone is smaller, samsung has better screen, HTC has better speakers etc.

nice! that first vid is cool. i personally wouldn't do too much with my phone, just shoot video/images, access a few simple apps, access this site (new version, it's more mobile friendly), and take a few calls. so the video/image stuff is #1.

i like the "better screen" out of those attributes. I also like those shatter proof phones. I see iphone 6s & galaxy s7 both perform good with water/shatter tests (iphone 6 better on shatter)

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/apple-iphone-samsung-galaxy-s7-put-to-the-test-waterproof-shatterproof/

it's most likely between those two for me right now.. i'm also somewhat of an apple guy -> i have a macbook pro and ipod tehe. so dno yet..

w/r/t phone tripods, i have one of these: https://www.amazon.com/GripTight-GorillaPod-Stand-Large-Phones/dp/B00M9C9EVS/ref=sr_1_3?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1466634429&sr=1-3&keywords=gorilla+tripod+iphone

works pretty well.

nice. i had one of those for a small camera too. worked good until a leg broke.

I like Schroeder at point for the hawks.. he's got serious potential as a season-long starter. Sucks about Teague's knee apparently..

also sucks for Rose.. to the graveyard with Melo :/ I picture Rose ending up like Marburry did when he went to the knicks.. Marburry was a beast in PHX, then fizzled hard in NY.. just hope he stays healthy for a while.. man was he fun to watch early on in his career.

i'm hoping King Riley can lure Durant over to MIA....... :) It would be smart for Durant to get out of the West, he'd be a legit finals contender every year in the east (most likely). He's already on a beast team with OKC, but, the West is stacked.. come to the East durant, come to .. South Beach.

awesome thread. much lulz.

love this one and the trash can.

they should have let this clip play out just a bit longer, klay's face was much disappointed.

Nop, never had that.

Weird indeed, IP is always the same.

yup because of the NAT'ing & LXC containers.. it's only been there for the last ~1.5 years -> when we switched over to linode.. but still, would have expected to see it sooner.

[quoteI guess it is a matter of coincidence? concurrent posts = IP warning.
posts per day = ~50
2-seconds slots per day = 86400
probability of posts in the same slot = 0.05%

ya exactly, thanks for the numbers.

funny stuff.

i agree with this take: http://screamer.deadspin.com/a-good-shitkicking-is-what-u-s-soccer-needed-1782414458

But there’s another way to look at this, endorsed by Sports Illustrated’s Grant Wahl, and it’s almost optimistic in its bleakness. The USMNT and their fans needed this wake-up call, the argument goes, not necessarily because the team was bad (they were not good), but because it’s hard to truly appreciate the greatness we aspire to without that greatness having its way with us. This is what a world No. 1-ranked team looks like, and for all the progress U.S. Soccer has made in recent years and decades, for all the pride justifiably taken from evolving into a competent soccer nation, the Argentines looked like they were playing an entirely different sport out there.

the article doesn't take it to the next step, which is: jurgen klinsmann is absolutely right and we need to start flooding european clubs with any talented american kids they'll take. MLS is fine and all, i'm glad it's getting more popular. but it's a B or C league. we have more people than the uk, germany, france, and spain put together. we have metric tons of very athletic children, many of whom like to play soccer. we just don't have anything resembling the technical skill of even the likes of portugal and we are not capable of developing it domestically past a certain point. someone pointed out before the game that argentina has a player, sergio aguero, who would be the greatest american player of all time but COMES OFF THE BENCH for argentina. he joined his local club's youth program at age 9, made his senior team debut at 15, then left for atletico madrid at age 18 and has been in elite european competition ever since. more of that, please.

ya man we looked like we didn't belong there at all. I was in awe of argentina just casually passing the ball back and forth, while still attacking.. was so effortless for them. They had no "panic". Every time we touched the ball, we were in panic mode.

Hot Take incoming: Going off of the list of sports LeBron could excel at from yesterday’s Fun Bag I’m prepared to say that Lebron could have stopped that Messi free kick.

didn't journal yesterday, was non stop coding all day. had to do a huge refactor of the backend code, because I needed the ability to modify some 'state' i'll be working with; a cache i'm building.

so that took literally all day long, but got it done :F

Fuck 4K , big frame rates are more important for us jumpmen.

About iphones:
the 6 shoots  : 1080p@60fps, 720p@240fps
the 6s ( and all the android equivalent price ones ) shoots : 2160p@30fps, 1080p@60fps,1080p@120fps, 720p@240fps

nice! thanks for the info. it would probably be a much better investment to get a really solid phone. I rarely use my (crap) smart phone, but I still use it somewhat. If I could upgrade that AND shoot solid video footage with it, sounds like the way to go.

hooking up a phone to a tripod seems so weird to me.

i'll need to look into it and make a decision fairly soon.. seems like I will go the phone route, because it will be a better investment overall; for work too etc.

one thing i'm excited about already is how light these phones are.. i could literally run to a court like im doing now, and take footage.. can't do that with a big pricey video camera.

phone it is!

LBSS :highfive: vag

^^^ first ever PROPER usage of the high five icon. just saying.

i'll have to figure out whether or not to go with android or iphone.

pc!

anyone ever get this? i'm so surprised i've only just now seen this.. considering EVERY POST that actually hits the forum, comes from the same IP address.. since it's tunneled through an HAPROXY server, with the REAL-IP set in headers.

as charles barkley might say, that was emburrassing. nobody expected us to win but man we didn't look like we belonged on the same field as argentina. like watching villanova try to beat the spurs or something.

ya it was really disappointing.. our passing was just horrific. we'd just give the ball up nearly every possession.

absolutely amazing goal by Messi.

here he is tying his shoes, slowly setting up for this free kick from way out, basically like it was inevitable that he would score.. boom, goal.
