There seems to be a flood of these coming onto the market at the moment.  I've seen Joel Jamieson is coming out with one as well and have seen a couple others floating around.

How accurate do you think they'll be? I know if they're anything like the Garmin calculations atm they could be woefully inaccurate.

Quick and dirty post with some training and some goals going forward. Am committing to the Tactical Barbell program for the next however long. Want it to be at least a year. I would love to program things for myself but I don't have the cognitive capacity nor the time to do it/myself justice. The TB program is solid, based around increasing a few key lifts and includes plenty of options for getting fit AF along the way. I'm working on a slow gains approach. Will be using training maxes for my key lifts and

Strength training- basic wave over 6 weeks building from 70% to 95% and then testing in week 7. Rinse and repeat. Going to be squatting, benching and chinning for the most part with accessories thrown in every now and then.
Cardio- mainly running. Both road work and getting back to the track. Also adding back in some boxing/kickboxing now that the hand is basically healed.

Goals by Nov 2018-
Squat- 160+
Bench- >100.
Deadlift- 200+
5k <20m
2k- 6min

They're pretty similar to a lot of other goals. I think I've found the right way to make them happen this time.

Starting maxes-
Squat- 100
Bench- 80
Deadlift- 115
5k- ?
2k- ?

HBD mate!

Ill keep that in mind. Also, just thought of that, how about assisted OACs on that 'assisted pull ups machine'? Not sure it will be totally useful because of the very different mechanics/contributors ( mainly because of the rotation ) of the actual OAC. But it seems like a good way to progressively overload one hand vertical pulling?

From what I've seen it's archers and pulley assisted and negatives are the way to go but the assisted machine might be a good option. At least it's easily measurable.

Usually aesthetics/size comes with strength. There are some exceptions though:

Beast lift but looking at him there's no way I would expect him to be able to bench 300lbs let alone 410!!!

Yeah that's just nuts.

I feel too far away from it now to even think of actually preparing for it. The threshold I've put of actually thinking it is possible ( so starting to think what i can do to get it ) is achieving 5 reps @ 30kg / 15 reps @ BW. For now it is just progressively overloading the weighted chins/pulls.
Hanging makes sense though. I remember Kellyb once put an article up about ISOs being his favorite RFD tool ( dafuq??? ) Edit : here it is http://www.higher-faster-sports.com/isosforrelativestrength.html

I would suggest putting some time into the preparatory work for it. If you get to +30 or more for 5 and don't have adequate scap stability or strength then it could take you a lot longer. Also I remember when I was hanging regularly and built up to a few sets of 1min plus my shoulders never felt better.

Thanks.

Yeah I want to make sure there isn't some kind of pressure point near where the bar is placed that could cause someone to instantly black out. It seemed that way in that video.

I've definitely had harder breathing when I need to place the bar firmly on neck/collarbone area, but it didn't bother me too much, since I hold my breath anyway on the descent of squats.

No pressure point on front of neck. Only windpipe that can be an issue. Carotid artery on side of neck can put you out in seconds but doubt front squats could do that.

Did you see the other vid I posted of him? He passes out deadlifting 335 so potentially has some inherent issues.

Is anyone doing any hanging in preparation for the OAC? From what I've heard recently building up to some serious time per arm can make a huge difference.

This guy is becoming one of my favourite players to watch. Doesn't hurt that Simmons and Embid are going ok as well.

Mate I already posted in your log but in that video it really looks like he racks it way too far back and basically on his windpipe. Heavy or slow tempo front squats always give me breath problems but that's just the nature of the lift. Just be smart about it when you do them.

1064
I'm slightly afraid of passing out on front squats after seeing that video one of the forum member posted and mentioning how himself did the same thing passing out.

In that vid the bar is resting on his windpipe from the start though so not sure what he expected. Also, he has a history of passing out during lifts. See the deadlift below at 335kg which I know is obviously heavy as fuck but maybe he has a breathing issue.
