Guliyev beast mode. damn.

great 200m final.

I first heard of Guliyev when he became the 2nd white man to run sub 10 (9.97).
Upset of the Word Champs imo. Honestly who would've thought Guliyev would have won the 200 :o

I heard a lot of athletes were sick. E.g. Elaine Thompson was vomiting for hours but she still competed. Jamaicans be like 'they poisoned our food'.

Nice, they will be showing it on the bbc channels and online. Excited. Bolt not doing the 200m as he sees the risk of losing it is quite high. Should be exciting.

100m prospects: degrasse, gatlin (little to some chance), yohan blake recovering well, new american talent and usain bolt.

Then you have van neekirk and his blasting away the competitions in the 400m and breaking records. I don't see kirani james or the american guy keeping up with him.

I bet Bolt is kicking himself now after the 100m. Bolt is a phenomenal 100m sprinter but to me his 200m has always been where he is the standout as nobody can match his top speed and speed maintenance. However, most importantly getting a bad start is a lot less detrimental in the 200m in comparison to the 100 because you have the time to make up. Despite the loss Bolt is a legend.

I personally don't care at all if he lost, doesn't tarnish him at all IMHO. I mean it sucks but, I respect him more that he tried, rather than walking off into the sunset - i'm weird like that it seems. I guess I just like to see people keep competing as long as they are able AND they want to compete - the idea of retiring early just to walk off with some story book ending has always bugged me, in every sport.

I wish he did the 200m. He'd probably walk away with a W in 200m and 3rd in 100m. Played it somewhat safe by only doing 100m and now he doesn't have a chance to end it in the event he probably had the better chance to win, especially with Degrasse out.

it's a fair question for sure.. maybe not to bolt/gatlin/coleman in that moment, but, definitely a fair question overall.. times were getting insane, everyone running under 9.8, with 9.7's and 9.6's, even 9.5's for bolt.. all of that "fire" seemed to disappear. Now, a 9.8 and even a low 9.9 is back to winning everything.

so many people over the years got busted, including Tyson Gay & Gatlin himself, as well as several of Bolt's teammates.

Bolt's response was a bit over the top..

I still hope he's clean.

Also, Blake kinda just "shows up" in 2012.. :ninja:

Yeah I can understand the frustration though. Ever since the Ben Johnson saga the results have always been overshadowed with suspicion.

Blake got a suspension early in his career for using stimulants. He really came out of the shadows in 2011 when he won the World Champs after Bolt's infamous false start. Unfortunately for Blake he's just had a tumultuous time with injuries and as a sprinter to get to your peak you need to be injury free and sustain that. Michael Johnson apart from his speed and being up until recently the world's greatest 200/400m sprinter in history was very fortunate in that he was durable and didn't have many injuries along the way.

With regards to Gatlin of course I agree that it's a pity he has used PEDs in the past. However, you've got to admire his resilience to come back after 2 doping bans and still being a force in his mid 30's. A lot of other people would've received a 4 year ban and given it all away and nobody would blame them.

yup. def!

Definitely! We can't all have fairly tale endings haha.

The 200m will be deadly!  :headbang:

Thompson missing out on a medal in the 100m was a huge upset. She's been the dominant 100m sprinter for the past year. Ivory Coast representing well.

Well I won't be going to the gym this week either. Busted my ribs. I'm not sure if I copped a shot directly into the ribs or whether somebody jumped on my back when I was on the ground. I went up for a hitup and I got tackled in a solid hit and a couple of players came in from the side and then when I was on the ground (on my stomache) another player fell on top of me. I played the ball straight away but I got up feeling a sore back and suddenly my lower ribs were aching. I played on for another 10 minutes but I couldn't jog let alone attempt to sprint without pain through my body. I might not play until finals time now as my ribs are already bruised. I know they aren't broken otherwise I wouldn't be able to breathe or anything with pain. Bad day at of the office :(

nah trust me, people with small hands need at least 15 in over the rim to throw it down, cause they need their hand over the ball in a downward motion to dunk

if i could palm the ball i can just use my wrist to dunk it in, but now i have to use my entire arm to throw it down

this is wrong and in fact makes no sense.

Think about it, your hands have to be on top of the ball to dunk it in. You might get lucky once in a blue moon and the ball goes in, but to be able to consistently throw it down you need at least 13-15 in over the rim if you can't palm the ball.

no dude. 13-15" is halfway down a normal person's forearm. it's possible to throw down with an inch of clearance (i.e. 8" over the rim); that was my personal experience. higher is better, and obviously the higher you are the more consistent you can be. but there's no universe in which 13" over the rim is the minimum to dunk. not even with two hands.

I've also had the same experience. I can dunk one handed and my vert is 35 inches max. To touch rim I need 26 inches so with 8-9 inches I'm able to dunk albeit palming the ball. Sometimes I can get weak 2 handed dunks but that's without dribbling the ball and they are weak as fuck so imo they are not legitimate dunks.

Sorry Fam I been slack on the updates. My team has still only lost the 1 game all season and I've still been a slack bitch when it comes to going to the gym.

A youtube video of a try I scored a couple of weeks ago:

Thanks!

Finally went to the Gym last night but I didn't even do any weights LOL!

Chin Ups-
10x3

Other than that just the usual playing rugby league. We won 16-0 last week and this week we play the only team that has beat us this season, which should be a good match. They beat us the first game and we beat them in the second. This will be the last time we play them before finals so it would be great to win and get the mental edge over them.

Brilliant explanation adarqui about the boxing gloves with the 4 oz. v 10 oz. scenario. This is the reason why I love this forum so much! The UFC is a marketing machine and they do an excellent job at hyping their fighters. Remember a couple of years ago when they were talking up Ronda Rousey and saying she'd beat up male fighters and kick Mayweather's ass haha. I've said this on facebook when people have been saying Conor has a chance but in reality it'll be 12 rounds of Mayweather running circles around Conor and making him look stupid. I'd even go as far as to say that there's more chance Conor will get DQ'd than actually winning this fight or knocking  out Mayweather.

49-0 against boxers who have spent decades training and perfecting their art and being the best of the best. This is just his swan song for going to 50-0 and having a final payout. Understandably in the boxing fraternity people are understandably angry that Conor has even been given this opportunity as everyone else has had to earn their way to the top and earn their way to fight Mayweather. Conor has just come in and it's a circus. Talk is cheap.

Haha I just came to post that Horn got the WBO decision but I was beaten to it :P

It'll be interesting to see who he fights next. I mean obviously a rematch with Pacman is the honourable thing to do as it was Pacman that stepped up and gave him an opportunity. However, it's risky because if he loses than that takes some appeal off other boxers wanting to challenge him and get big fights.
