Progress Journals & Experimental Routines / Re: FP's log

Okay might actually give them a try holding the bar the way you described it. Screwed my back up holding the weight across my chest so you are probably right that this is the cause of the problem. I still think that heavy carries are a good way to train core strength though.
What do you think about doing situps on a GHD machine (with a straight back and not overarching the back)? No decline bench at the crossfit gym I train at over the summer. Have never done toes to bar before so will try them as well.

I also fucked up my back with heavy weighted sit ups so I don't wanna risk it anymore. One of the best exercises in my opinion are heavy carries with db's, kb's or even normal farmers handles if available. You can a lot of different variations. Like heavy load in both hands. Heavy load in one hand on the side and the other weight over head. Both hands overhead etc. Just grab some weights and walk... simple but very effective and imho a lot more "functional" than doing leg raises or decline situps...

why are planks terrible? situps are definitely not "easy" on the back

that sucks.. you were doing so great. I hope you get back on the "gainstrain" as soon as possible. I'm in a very similar situation. Training has been going really well... boom hurt my wrist skateboarding and now it feels like I have to revaluate this whole situation and adjust my training accordingly which is just annoying as hell. I hate injuries!!  :raging:

Form on squats looks pretty solid to me. The only thing I have to note is that I wouldn't squat in converse chucks as they don't offer any stability whatsoever and you can see that your foot collapses inwards quite a bit.

That's actually true. I mean for someone who really struggles with being tall and skinny it's also pretty hurtful when you comment on it all the time yet in our society it's not appropriate to tell someone when he is really fat. I mean where's the logic in that.

I also watched poland vs portugal. You thought this was a good game? I found it a really shitty one to be honest haha... like the first half was okay, a few nice plays. But in the second half all the players from poland seemed out of energy and only stood in the penalty area defending. Portugal on the other hand did not seem to have any crucial ideas to score and when they did, Cristiano Ronaldo messed it up. At some point in the overtime both teams just seemed to be content with the penalty shootout.

I really have no idea what you are talking about there with the programing and stuff ... ^^ but I just got to say that it's awesome what you do for this forum and how much time you invest in it. Thanks man!   :lololol:

I'm sorry to hear that your brother is going through this. My brother also had a very hard time with me when I was battling depression in the past. But even though I pushed him away and hurt him so many times he stuck with me and kept believing in me and it's probably thanks to him that I'm still here and alive today. I can't describe how much this means to me. I really hope that you hear from your brother soon and that things work themselves out somehow.

Or how Neil deGrasse Tyson stated: "The good thing about science is that it is true whether you believe in it or not."  :lololol:

Can I join too... please?

my list:

- biceps tendonitis in my right shoulder
-> actually diagnosed as a SLAP(labrum) tear by one orthopedist
- shoulder impingement
- "tennis elbow" for almost a year (both elbows)
- patellar tendonitis (?) in both knees (on and off)
- jumpers knee
- Cam impingement and a partial labrum tear in my left hip
- several severe ankle sprains, actually (partially)torn two ligaments once
- back pain which was eventually diagnosed as two bulging discs in my lumbar spine

... come to think about it, I never strained or pulled a muscle and never broke a bone... yaaayy I'm invincible!! :D

And I mean I wouldn't consider Geneva to be a very "Swiss" city to begin with. it's part of the "suisse romandie" the french talking part of switzerland which, regarding the mentality and culture is quite a bit different than the rest of switzerland (actually in a positive way). geneva is even more so a special case as there is the united nations office there and the head office of the red cross and thus is very international. If I'm not mistaken it's one of the or even the most expensive city of the world...

Edit: I'm also very sorry to hear about your loss, didn't read that part.
