family problems between my parents and me. High stress shit. THey are fuckin buggin. Have not been able to log

107
that is what i thought

108
IDK but it seems cool that you can load it like a barbell, but hold it like a dumbbell.

109
I might just be acting stubborn and impatient, but ws4sb seems simple. one max effort set to improve strength, and then some accessory exercises to get some volume in.

It is just that I want to have ws4sb as my go to routine since there are so many variations of it for different parts of the year.
And about milking the gains, I was doing that but I have a season coming up in November. I have to vary it for different parts of the year. Also, I have to make an impression that I have been working HARD to the basketball coaches during the  summer because they just think I am a skinny kid

110
first, just noticed truth about quickness. lol.

second, why get all fancy with blocks? stick with the plan you set up for your gpp block until you stop making gains. which, if you're eating a lot, could be a long time.

1. Yeah I have been doing it since January. Kelly was right about how it helps you move more fluidly.
2. They aren't true blocks I just call them that. I wanted to do WS4SB, but I thought I was a little too weak for it, so I am getting a little stronger with the GPP block. I cannot continue the GPP block because it is going to be summer when I do WS4SB and that just means practice, practice, and more practice. so three days a week of legs seems much.

Just like what LBSS said, lift heavy 6-12 reps in my opinion and just keep doing the main lifts (bench press, etc..) and add in some other complimentary lifts and just use progressive overload... That with eating A LOT will get you bigger and stronger

Also, unless you grow, I wouldn't recommend getting TOO BIG.. I would say if your body allows, 160 is optimum weight for a guard at your height.  That is 160lbs at <12% BF.  Like for me, I'm 5'8" but whenever I bulk up past 150lbs I tend to get more sluggish and are more susceptible for knee issues and OSD flare ups.

Don't worry dude. I am ethiopian. Unless I eat absurd amounts I can't gain much. I also practice and play ball 6-7 days a week

111
I mean like structuring a program. I know I am overthinking it. I will just do the max effort and repitition effort workouts from ws4sb 3. ws4sb 3 upper+ eating= BIG

112
For the upper body training, I have no idea what to do. I am trying to get as strong and BIG as possible over my 8-10 strength block

113
To test my athletic progress:

Squat Max
Bench Max
Max # of Chinups
Vertical Jump

hamstring flexibility test (sit and reach, dynamic hamstring, hip flexor test)*
Body fat% and weight (140 at 16%)

To test my skills progress:
Playing against my old AAU team and players on the varsity team
Shooting percentage
Ball Handling Test
Amount of 1 on 1 games played with players better than me (goal 100)

Ok so I wanted yall's input on my offseason training for athleticism. My offseason is from now till September 1, 2011. My biggest goals are to get stronger, quicker, faster, and jump higher.
My goals are to dunk by the season in November, squat 250 and bench 185 by start of school in august.

I am insanely weak at the moment. At 140 lbs, I only squat 170 and bench 110. I am quick, but i need to gain some weight. I also train for basketball 6 days a week.

I have been doing the beginner program from Muscle Gaining Secrets by Jason Ferrugia and plan to finish that. I have also been doing Truth about Quickness and it has really helped with my quickness.

For a 22 week offseason, I divided it up into GPP, strength block, mass block, and explosive block.
Focus in GPP is to lose some fat and get the body ready.
Focus in strength is to get that strength in squats and bench way up.
Focus in explosive get vert and sprinting speed up.

GPP Block(six weeks) 3 days a week on MWF
Monday: TAQ + plyo drill 2-3 sets of whatever + strength
stationary ball handling, 3 on 3, 1 on 1, optional shooting
Tuesday SHOOTING, moving ball handling, 1 on 1
Wednesday: TAQ + strength
stationary ball handling, 3 on 3, 1 on 1, optional shooting
Thursday SHOOTING, moving ball handling, 1 on 1
Friday: TAQ + 30-50 yd sprints + strength
stationary ball handling, 3 on 3, 1 on 1, optional shooting
Saturday SHOOTING, moving ball handling, 1 on 1
Sunday rest or some light shooting, ball handling, 1on1 games

Lifting on MWF alternating these

Day 1
1. Squat
2a DB Military Press
2b Chin Up

Day 2
1. DL
2. Dip
3. 1 Arm DB row

Strength Block (eight-ten weeks)
WESTSIDE FOR SKINNY BASTARDS 3

This plus truth about quickness

Explosive Block(four-six weeks)

WS4SB STRENGTH AND SPEED
This plus truth about quickness

Planned on playing 3 on 3. Shit happened. Did some stationary work. Then tested out some moves. I did some floaters off 2 feet, some 3's, pullups, crosses to floaters.

Ok so after seeing things. My basketball training should GENERALLY look like this:

1. Dynamic Warmup
2. Effective ball handling
3. Driving, footwork, moves
4. Prolific Shooting drills
5. Finishing Drills

I need do Prolific Shooting drills, effective ball handling, work on my moves, driving drills and other better basketbal stuff.

I went to the park today.

I shot around a little and then I:
played 1 game of 21 with three other players
played 3 games of 2 on 2
played 1 game of 4 on 4

Ok I was driving a lot and attacking during 21 and the first game of 1 on 1. I was finishing pretty well. For finishing I need to remember to look at the basket throughout the whole shot. I probably shouldn't have played the other games because I started settling for jumpers and wasn't hustling.

I NEED to make my floater automatic.
I NEED to remember that no one remembers pickup games. Play without a conscious and test shit out.
I NEED to attack the basket and play defense.
I NEED to stop playing once I start get tired for recovery and to not develop bad habits.*

*Focus write now is skills and strength.

03.30.11
I decided to restart the Prolific Shooting Program because my form has become more automatic and consistent. I went to back to week 1 of the 2nd phase of effective ball handling.
I did SBA A and sBH. Then I did the psp warmup + denham brown series and turn series.
My shot was consistent but my footwork needs work. I am going to begin to do footwork drills as a warmup gradually increasing speed to game speed then beginning my workout.

Footwork: pivot into jumper, SECSY drive, jump stops, 1-2 steps to jumper, hops and step backs

03.31.11
I did absolutely nothing today. I am completely busy with science fair. I have to make up for my slacking partners. smh

04.01.11
No basketball. Slept like 2 hours yesterday b/c of science fair. Slept the whole afternoon. SPRING BREAK so now i can train without worrying about school

04.02.11
I played 2 games of 4 on 4 today. I was a hella lot more confident. My dad saw me play for the 1st time in a while and was extremely impressed. I was finishing pretty well, but i need to work on my left hand. My shot was too long the whole game. I think it is probably since I rested so much in the past few days which means I AM GETTING STRONGER. I didn't get pushed around that much.

Afterwards I played a game of 1 on 1. I won like 8 to 4. It should have been like 10 or 12 but i kept missing LEFT HANDED LAYUPS. I planned some moves instead of reacting to defense, but for the most part, my offensive play was pretty nice.

I am making my definitive offseason plan tonight and posting it tomorrow

04.03.11
Church today. Stayed after until 2:30. Cousins came over and we played 2 on 1. They were scrubs so i destroyed them. I kinda got big headed. After they left I want to play at the park. I didn't have my best night out there. Didn't look up when dribbling and i thought myself into a slump sort of. Afterwards I played one on one with this guy that is playing JUCO. I lost like 12-8 but my points came off of 4 threes.

Afterwards, I tried to play again but dude told me he would help me out instead with my game.
He told me:
On defense and offense, think as if you control what they do. If they are a shooter, get in their face. If they are a slasher give them space, but if they are both and they are more athletic than you, just do your best to stay infront of them and the basket.
I need to look up when I dribble. It is obvious but i still do it.
Do not throw cross court passes. I do too many of these.
Look up at the basket when I do a move. Not directly but in the general vicinity. I am a decent shooter, but when i do a move i only look up at the last second.
I need to STUDY a player that I model myself after. I am thinking derek rose. Any suggestions for a 5'8 point guard that is quick, weak but getting stronger and more explosive, pretty good ball handling, and decent shooting.
I NEED to continue to improve my ball handling, shooting, basketball iq, athleticism, and mental toughness at a level that rivals an NBA player
The crossover is a full body movement.

It was a good wake up slap

04.04.11
Spring Break was supposed to go to the gym but got in an argument, so no ride. I did some stationary ball handling. I lifted weights. I was tired but I hyped myself up somehow. I squatted 175. Tired as hell afterwards.

04.05.11
I was tired as HELL today. I could barely move. I did some moving ball handling drills, but felt so BURNT out. I am a naturally high strung and easily hyped. I just felt tired as hell. MY feel for the ball was off. I was just off. I just want to go to sleep. GOD!!!
What should I do to feel better tomorrow.

116
I was thinking about doing this in the summer. Really all i have is training, eating, sleeping and optional studying,

Is this condusive for a period of time where you are seriously training. Will it allow for you to speed up your recovery etc.

The academics>athletics is not an option in my househeld. I couldn't train for 2 weeks because I had a 77 in AP world and an 89 in biology. African parents don't joke
