Article & Video Discussion / Re: Vertical Jump Work 5 days a week?
« on: November 05, 2013, 10:45:04 pm »
Yeah I have heard a lot of people just say do slight below parallel but I have seen a lot of people with crazy verts that do full squats. I am naturally built for deadlifts with long arms and have been doing them for a lot longer....i pulled 365 for 5 reps pretty easy on those deadlift machines but doing on the bar is a whole different story.

BTW I am on day 2 of this Training Regimen and it is pretty crazy....extremely hard to be explosive when your legs are shot but i was able to get some good jumps in.
I got the idea from Jordan Kilganon who dunked everyday for hours and it obviously worked. Here is the interview with him

Article & Video Discussion / Vertical Jump Work 5 days a week?
« on: October 30, 2013, 12:25:05 am »
This might sound crazy but I'm thinking of doing vertical jump work 5 days a week. My running vertical is 29 inches and standing is 26 inches and can grab rim now. I was currently doing Jump Manual and it does work very well but i had a question that was bugging me.
My plan was to do
heavy leg work on mondays (squat, deadlift, lunges, calf raises, etc)  :ibsquatting:
a short session of plyometrics on tuesday (depth jumps, sprints, box jumps),  :ibjumping:
Wednesday (light jump rope)
Thursday-Plyometrics (same thing as tuesday)
Friday-Heavy Leg Work (squat, deadlift, lunges, calf raises, etc)

I would do this for three weeks adn take a deload week. I would be getting proper sleep and be eating alot. I am only 16 going on 17 soon (november 19th) so I think id be able to handle it, I know it is probably "overtraining" but my capcity for workload is a little higher than average. The only problem I see with this is the risk of injury and the same gains as doing it 2 days a week.

What do you guys think about this? Do you think I would see good results if I did this for 3 weeks?

ADARQ & LanceSTS - Q&A / Re: Diet for dropping bodyfat and getting lean
« on: October 19, 2011, 05:53:01 pm »
You need to eat plenty of good foods right now, not try and diet down if thats what youre getting at.  Just clean up your eating habits, eat clean, and get stronger.  You can get as lean as you want but until you build some more muscle and strength youre not going to be very fast regardless.  Starting track in itself will increase your caloric expenditure a lot, couple that with cleaning up your diet and eating foods that are beneficial to you as an athlete and cutting out the ones that arent, you will get leaner very quickly.
ok man i understand what your saying thanks,

Article & Video Discussion / Re: 5000 Chinups
« on: September 27, 2011, 09:49:41 pm »

I am going to start doing an experiment i read from a T-Nation article.
http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_article/most_recent/13064_pullups_in_5_months

I am going to do chinups daily until i get 5000 total chinups.

I will add one total rep each day. I did 50 yesterday. Today I did 51. Tomorrow i will do 52. Once i get to the day where i do 112 reps. I will have done over 5000 chinups. This might effect my bench, pressing, DL, and rdl for a little bit, but i think i will eventually adapt. i am going to this Monday through Saturday and rest on Sunday. Kind of like how farmers work Monday through Saturday. THis can be like my farm work. Lol

THis really has nothing to do with my goals of being a faster sprinter, but I wanna do this out of pure curiosity and as an extra personal challenge.
One of my goals is to get 20 chinups easily and eventually get a one arm chinup. I wouldnt mind getting a bigger back, biceps, forearms in the process.

I am using a neutral grip. i will eventually get rings once i save up my allowance but until then its neutral grip. dont want to fuck up my elbow in the process.

Cool idea, really wanted to try it out, but he says you should be able to do 10 pullups first, Once i get to 10 im going to start this. You are a sprinter too? what are your times?

im 14 but think ill be a late bloomer since my dad was my height till he was 16 or 17 then he went to 6 foot. i did football last year and played linebacker but wasnt  good since of my slow speed and i did track last year. i play sports alot and i also did track last year, im going to do track this year and try out for the basketball team. i play sports alot. this is the routine i am following.

http://www.adarq.org/forum/sts-qa/access-to-a-weightroom-need-help-with-checkingmaking-a-workout/

but i feel i should do the rest pause thing stuck did to get his squat crazy high, or a workout like this to drop bodyfat first http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_article/sports_body_training_performance/lactic_acid_training_for_fat_loss. since i will inevitably get stronger but dropping bodyfat and maintaing lean muscle should be a greater priority. anyways progress video coming soon today.  this will be the place i will be posting all the videos.

Respect slowkidtryingtogetfast, i will read your journal from now on!

thanks alot dude! appreciate it a ton. hopefully i will get to that level one day and everyone on this forum is so supportive of each other's journeys that i was comfortable to post it. hopefully il get a progress jump video on here soon.  :highfive:

ADARQ & LanceSTS - Q&A / Re: Flexibility issue
« on: September 08, 2011, 10:00:10 pm »
Excuse me for interrupting Raptor, but a quick question Lance i have a different body structure than that bobsled athlete and i was confused at how deep i should go in the squat, is that an example of how my squat should look like if i am training for speed and vert even though i have a different body structure. Thanks
