moar anecdotes Lance. They sound awesome. [:

Something I do when I'm practicing is just to take the rock full court and imagine defenders checking me. One at backcourt, one at midcourt, and another at the three-point. It's good practice for the fastbreak, and also gives you sprint training and change of direction in there while you're at it.

Skimmed some of your posts and read that you want to focus on quads and calves. I'd recommend you get both quads and hamstrings stronger, at the very least. Strong hamstrings can only help. They also protect the knee, so, y'know, that's a big plus right there.

Speaking of mobility, how much of an emphasis should we put on stretching? Every day? Every other day? Only when we feel tight?

Also, is stretching the achilles tendon itself advised? I do it now and then, just wondering if it's alright.

Rolling pin. Y'know, the cylinder thing used for rolling dough. And ROM is range of motion.

6
Put your foot sole on something like a rolling pin and just roll it back and forth gently through its ROM. Helped me when I was recovering from an ankle sprain.

Ok i reviewed my time and it was 17s -slightly more than 10 but not significantly. This was a wobbly, struggling effort. It wasn't an effortless this-is-a-waste-of-my-time-i-could-do-this-all-day type of thing. I don't think I had good form either. Is it easy for the rest of you guys to do > 1 minute?

Yeah, you need to work on your core strength. I think this is something that can be progressed easily, though.

Myself, I honestly get bored just doing minute after minute of planks so I weight mine, lol. I go for around 20+ seconds that way.

Everyone else, keeping living your life trying not to offend ppl to the point of denying the truth, you shameful rats.  I'll say it again, avg black and avg white trains just as hard, black guy will see better results most of the time.

Who cares, man.

You keep going on about genetics and stuff like that, but let's face it, you're one of the lucky people that two arms, two legs, a functioning brain and functioning senses. Isn't that genetics enough?

Are you 5' flat to be complaining about genetics? Or are you stunted? Or what?

Clearly you go on about genetics hoping to find some validation in your belief that you weren't born with the best genetics or the best body. You've made some threads on it, actually, pointing out your hand size, even posting once in my journal about genetics. But if you got a sound body and a sound enough mind, that's really all you need, man.

So what if you weren't born ready to dash a 4.2 in the 40; you got training to make up the difference. And to top it off, genetics only matters at the top and even then it depends on what sport it is. You play basketball, so you know it's more skill than anything else. I've seen some fast dudes that can jump that get ripped apart by better skills.

And to top it off, discussing genetics won't magically change what people got. You're dealt what you're dealt and you make the damn best of it you can.

This is also the second time you've gone at everyone at the board for no other reason than trying to prove your point. Will insulting all these other members make you right? Nah, but it makes you an asshole.

Yo Lance, I'm gonna switch things up; I've been sl box squatting for a while, but now I want to progress my full pistol squat. I had a workout session last Saturday where I lowered to a full pistol squat depth (broke parallel and then some), but then I saw this. Would something like that be better than going to full? Just curious.

Im confused as to what you mean man, in the video you linked hes definitely doing a full squat...

Huh. Really? I thought it was a variation since he's sitting down into it. It removes the part where you force the change from eccentric to concentric, doesn't it? Would this be better to go for then?

From what I remember, you gave me a weighted pistol squat vid where the dude was beast. He held the front squat position with the barbell with around 120 or so lbs. and then dropped into full depth, but not as far as the guy I linked... which is what I'm doing.

Oh thats why you been acting cunty? I wasn't proving you wrong man, just already had that video open in my browser and embed it into the thread, nothing to do with you or your posts whatsover except the mention of KD.

on the topic of strength in basketball, im wondering about leverages in the post. Who has the advantage and who has the disadvantage and reasons why in the following situations:

Without Ball
1. Big defender fronting small offensive player
2. Small defender fronting a big offensive player

With Ball
3. Big offensive player backing down a small defensive player
4. Small offensive player backing down a big defender

Depends on their athleticism and skill at reading those situations... and the passer, of course.

Big defender fronting a small offensive player is easy enough. As long as the BD puts a body on him without getting too unbalanced, his length should be enough to deny the pass.

If a small defender's fronting a big offensive player, and assuming the athleticism discrepancy isn't too much, all the BOP has to do is bump him a little during the pass and the small defender won't be in a proper position to deny the ball.

Big offensive player backing down a small defensive player oughta get the ball ten times out of ten, providing the passer isn't an ass and fucks up the entry pass. Then it's a matter of bumping the SDP out of position and then shooting.

The small offensive player backing down a big defender will probably have to rely on a face-up game, pump-fakes and the like to get past the big defender, or be straight-up more athletic.

tldr; Big player oughta win in all of them, providing the small player's leverages aren't otherworldly, like Rondo or something.

Edit:

And this thread, lol. What's even going on? P:

hyperdunk, bruh, you gotta learn to read sarcasm, lol. You were playing straight man for Raptor for two posts straight. That's gotta be a record or something. And just calling everyone a meathead that don't know how to ball? I realize you weren't directing it at the entirety of adarq.org, but let's be real. This is a tight-knit forum, man. We got what, twenty active journals, if that? Think about it. You might as well call out whoever you got a problem with.

Just chill a little.

My lowtop basketball shoes arrived. They're pretty nice. But a bit too roomy. Might have to wear 2 pairs of socks, will try them out on sunday for pickup ball. I didn't really tighten the shoelaces but I could pretty easily slip my foot out of the shoe which was a bit disconcerting. Hopefully I can jump in these shoes without bothering my ankles like my other hightop boots! I just realised I haven't tried dunking in over 2 wks now. And it's been around the same since I ran sprints. I missed a session due to rain, and last wk due to injury. Will def do both jumping and running this wk, weather permitting.

Sounds a bit risky. I'd change your size down if you can.

If you're white, you'd be better off ignoring your upper body...

You were doing better for a while, training, and actually making decent posts.  why are you acting like an idiot fuck again harvey?

I'm trying to make a point. If you want to make it somewhere as a basketballer, your priority should be jumping above anything else physically.

So that when you start playing some high-level ball, you can jump for joy over 50 times without losing height because somebody who put in the work in the weightroom is boxing you out and bullying you in the low post? Lol.

You don't even play basketball, bro, you play volleyball, so let me tell you that basketball is a physical sport, man, your body and how compact and leanly muscled it is incredibly important. Not just jumping.

These dudes look tiny on TV, but if you go up to them in real life they're completely packed with muscle. Even someone like Stephen Curry is more muscled than you think he'd be.

As for OP, I'd say the routine is fine, just keep adding weight.
