recent (latest phase of re-training) L-SLRVJ  :personal-record:
- 10'6 touch

that basically puts me at 30" RVJ for L-SLRVJ.. need to make that more consistent now.

my big first goal is 10'8" L-SLRVJ and running 3 consecutive miles at <= 5:59 min/mi.

those are really good RVJ numbers (discounting RL, obviously). how are you measuring, again?

I'm jumping at my school's gym. Rim is 10 feet for sure.

Also, my friend has been following my routine (working out with me) and has only gained an inch on his RVJ in 3 months. Seems odd that we are doing exactly the same thing, but he's not improving much.

Some PRs from last week:
SVJ- 33.5"
DL RVJ- 38-39"
Squat- 312@155 pounds (added 100+ pounds in 2 months, but I suspect that correctly learning the form gave me 50 pounds of that and that creatine helped immensely)

Right leg PRs recently:

SL SVJ- 18.5"
Running SL RVJ- 26"

Right ankle was surgically repaired 7 months ago. It's still absolute trash compared to my healthy leg.

Left leg PRs recently (prior to shin splints):
SL SVJ- 23"
Running SL RVJ- 37.5"

Kingfish you indeed have FREAKISH genetics, but if you don't mind me asking, what were your starting SVJ numbers before you starting lifting? I just want to see what can be accomplished through hard work. Thanks!

If you can learn any single tip to help your athletic career it is to stop thinking like this completely.  End it.  Never again.  Obviously, KF can answer about KF better than I can but IMO he is primarily a testament to hardwork and more importantly to consistency. 

However even if he started w a standing VJ of 37" it is not evidence that you cant accomplish his current abilities through hardwork.  You dont know he has freakish genetics and statements about one person having superior genetics are silly.  You wont know what you can achieve unless you try.  And if you try whilst also setting conscious or unconscious limits on yourself you are not trying.  Give me five years.  Five years of consistent effort, mindfullness, and belief that you are completely capable of achieving the impossible.  After 5 years you can talk about your lack of genetics.

I was not belittling my own genetics, but clearly having a 40" SVJ is something most people cannot accomplish through hard work. He obviously has good genetics for the SVJ. I understand your point though, but I was merely complementing him--not putting myself down in any way.

Stop with all the dairy brah. I used consume a shit ton of it as well, until I was made aware of studies like this (100,000 people sample size):

I got within an inch of rim so I just extrapolated based on that. I know for a fact that I jumped 35" in the gym, but at my house it might've been as low as 34". I'm in medical school and we have a basketball court, so I sneak in some jumps there from time to time. My ceiling is exactly 9' and I can palm it with both hands. My vertical jump device said 37-38", so I think the higher the vertical, the less accurate it is.

Thanks! I guess all those single leg standing jumps really helped me! My bad leg only has a running jump of 18" though...
