Man it sounds like u been doin work son! I had my 1st league game last tues & we lost but I ended up with 20 pts & according to my hyperdunks, my highest jump of the night was 37.4"!!!!!!! Almost hit my head on the backboard trying a putback, I'm only 6'1 so when I can hit my head on the bottom of the backboard which is 9'4, then I will have a 40" vert, that's what I'm shooting for after the new year! Just got back home from vacation in Florida & didn't lift or jump at all so now it's time 2 get back on the grind & hit it hard! Congrats on your progress & good luck on your upcoming league....keep me informed. Peace

Thanks for the advice.....I can't palm a ball either, I think that's some of my problem dunking, I get up high enough but can't get the ball to go down, it rims out. My squats are at about 255x3 right now but my strength is coming up, I feel it! I still been hitting plyo's b4 I lift, I just have cut them down a lot to get strength up. My training consists of squats, deads, cleans, calf raises, bb lunges & step ups, pistol squats & jump squats. I have been doing something right because I have gained about 5 inches n 4 months. I will be dunking easy soon! I'm putting in the hard work so I hope it pays off! I'm 31 yrs young & feel I'm closer than I've ever been to dunking consistently. I'm @ 34" rite now & I'm measuring again in 2 weeks, ill keep u posted, thanks for the advice, stay in touch. Peace

Hey Chris m, sounds like u been doin a lot of good work lately, I'm new 2 da site & 6 yrs older than u, I play league ball all the time & recently began strength training for my vert. My svj is 28" & my rvj is 34". I'm 6'0 wit a standing reach of 7'10". I'm really close to dunking & I'm not giving up. My reactive strength is really good so I'm focusing on strength right now, my squat max is only about 255 or so I weigh the same as u, weighed 183 this morning. I feel if my strength comes up then.my vert will 2. Can u dunk? I'm 31, have a 7'10" reach & a rvj of 34" but I can't quite dunk yet. I would appreciate any advice from anybody on helping me out. I will dunk soon, I'm busting my ass, I got a league that starts n 2 weeks! Thanks for time. "Don't give up, don't ever give up"

Yo adarq, get @ it homie! Gud shit......I've been doing plenty of plyo work & reactive work, datz y my running vert is way more than my standing vert so I'm cutting out da plyo's 4 a while & focusing on straight power oly work so the power in my quads can catch up with my reactive work. Keep bangin dude, sky is NOT da limit! Peace

I never paid attention to my standing vert, I've always had huge calves on skinny legs.....LOL. I figured the difference was because I always ran & jumped & also did plyo's a lot, but recently I have started doing alot of heavy weights fast olympic style & my standing vert has gone up 2", so I figured I'm starting to increase the power in my quads & legs so my vert should start to really take off I hope! Thanks for the input....peace

The thing is, I didn't really start off doing those core lifts in aug, I was jus playing ball & doing plyo's. but there was such a difference between my standing vert & my running vert that I needed to get my power up, so I started doing squats, cleans, etc, about a month ago. Don't really know how strong I am in all these lifts. Been doing 225 5x5 on squats, deadlifting the same, doing cleans with 95-115. I need to find out what my max is on all these so I can bump it up soon. Thanks for the welcome, I look forward to being motivated & helping others with motivation along the way. I always say, "u don't have to be ready, if u stay ready"! And about the comment about death to Uconn, were gonna be just fine. 3 national titles, a ton of conference championships, and one of the elite programs in college basketball. I respect your opinion, I'm out.....
