"Performance during stretch-shortening cycle exercise is influenced by the visco-elastic properties of the muscle-tendon units. During stretching of an activated muscle, mechanical energy is absorbed in the tendon structures (tendon and aponeurosis) and this energy can subsequently be re-utilized if shortening of the muscle immediately follows the stretching. According to Biscotti (2000), 72% of the elastic energy restitution action comes from tendons, 28% - from contractile elements of muscles.

that's crazy insane, when he does that tuck jump before the spike and the play starts you can see how springy and powerful he is

yeah that tuck jump was pretty high and he wasn't really trying at all...haha, he looks really weird too, as in his knees are bent in, so he might be flatfooted or something, hes also a bit hunched over

best tuck jump ive ever seen prior to some competition was this vid of casey combest.. he tuck jumped before his h.s. record 60m dash, and it musta been like 40" + a tuck, it was insane.. ESPN screwed up the article so the vids don't work anymore.. i need to email them, that video is sick.

ya dude he was a FREAK.. the vid i saw of him on that espnmag link, was just incredible.. insanely explosive can't even put into words how fast his 60m run was.

that article had the videos, but the links are broken.

such a shame he had to become a dumb shit and start selling drugs, but whatever.. it's just crazy how small/skinny he is, and then you see all that power.
