The guy recently squatted 505lbs, 2.5x BW, after 13 years of training
He follows the Jump Science approach, strength work, then back off completely after a few months and peak the jump

his 10 year dunk progress
So yeah staying healthy would be the key, so you will get there eventually
Guy has long arms for his height 7'11" reach :0

He hit 545lbs on the squat recently still at 200lbs, so you do need quite a bit of strength to jump that high
