Gluten/Wheat

Anyone here go gluten/wheat free? Either due to sensitivity/coeliac or other reasons?

I've always eaten wheat, and never really noticed 'issues'...although I've always had digestive issues..docs just said IBS etc...

Anyway...last summer I did a CKD for a few months, and had no digestive issues...except on my carb up when my digestive system would hate me...

whether this was due to gluten..or just reintroduction of carbs..its hard to say..

These days I try to stay away from gluten where possible, but when I cheat e.g. went home to see family/girlfriend this weekend and ate so much wheat, my digestive system went bat shit crazy on me, still feel pretty terrible now.

I've read that sometimes people who are sensitive to gluten can not really notice it, until they cut it out and reintroduce it...with symptoms then being worse/more noticeable..when glutens reintroduced, which they certainly seem to be with me at the moment.

Anyone else have any thoughts on the whole gluten debate?

like all debates about nutrition, it's way overblown. however, some people really are negatively affected by eating gluten. if you feel better when you're not eating it, then just stop eating it. the debate shouldn't matter.

ETA: you can do carb refeeds with all kinds of stuff, obviously. you're not limited to wheat and other glutinous carby foods.
Muscles are nonsensical they have nothing to do with this bullshit.

I find i can eat small amounts of wheat, e.g. like 1 slice of bread without any real problems...so not really full blown celiac..

definitely get a bloat/mind fog/abdo cramps/toilet issues - when i eat any kind of moderate amount tho..

Shame, cos wheat products taste good..and they're cheap

and yeah i did a bunch of carb refeeds w/ potatoes, rice, gluten free pasta, sweets etc...and definitely noticed less bloat/illness

i have cut it out mostly...i just wondered if anyone was a big believer in staying away from gluten and they're basis and vice versa!
