Lol, did I not predict that an endless debate could ensue?
That site godhatesfags.com is probably made to make fun of believers.
uh no.. heh.. That site belongs to the Westborough Baptist Church or however it's spelled. They are "christian extremists" who do lots of filthy shit.
If anyone truly knows this "religion" they would know that the God revealed in Scriptures does not hate any single act of disobedience more than another. All acts of disobedience or sin is simply a symptom of how badly humanity has deviated from it's original "image". That image isn't just the physical. We are obviously not just physical, and we obviously don't act on just instinct. We have a mind and emotions and endless other characteristics.
Nice, sounds really peaceful. What about all of the other murderous, hate filled comments littering the bible, prophecies, etc?
I mean I can just google within 5 seconds, find tons of links, and if I cared to actually fact check the quotes, i'd be astonished to find them in the actual writings, thus not fake.

http://www.ranker.com/list/top-20-bible-passages-to-use-against-fundamentalists/ivana-wynnI mean, when I read this stuff I crack up.. I used to watch the religious channel for it's comedic value, does anyone else do this? Maybe I am satan, who knows.
harmless:
"When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets: Then thou shalt cut off her hand, thine eye shall not pity her." (Deuteronomy 25:11-12)

Let me ask you something, isn't atheism simply another religion? It is the belief or faith that there is nothing else out there. In the end, everything revolves around belief or faith.
Two standard definitions of religion:
noun
1.
a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.
the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods:
ideas about the relationship between science and religion
[count noun] a particular system of faith and worship:
the world’s great religions
[count noun] a pursuit or interest followed with great devotion:
consumerism is the new religion
Notice the word "superhuman" or "controlling power" etc? That should answer your question.
Believe != Religion
Atheists may seem "like religious people" when they team up to fight the forces of evil, but they don't have any beliefs in controlling powers, spirits, god's, or anything of that nature... Atheists believe in science/physics as the explanation of the natural world.
As for the faith comment, again, you're "wrong".. Atheists wouldn't have faith in the religious sense, here's a list of 4 definitions:
a (1) : belief and trust in and loyalty to God (2) : belief in the traditional doctrines of a religion
b (1) : firm belief in something for which there is no proof (2) : complete trust
3: something that is believed especially with strong conviction; especially : a system of religious beliefs <the Protestant faith>
Obviously atheists don't believe and trust in a controlling entity such as god..
Obviously atheists don't believe in something for which there is no proof... Atheists support science.. In order to "prove something scientifically", you need proof, obviously.. For example, you can't "prove god" so it would never be accepted scientifically until god himself comes down and tells us his cool story.
You can make the case for "strong conviction", atheists have strong convictions usually, about their beliefs in science/evolution rather than fairy tales/creation.
But ya, everything does NOT boil down to belief and "faith".. From an atheists perspective, everything boils down to facts.
Facts lead to progress. "Beliefs and faith" havn't created anything that has benefited the human race, not that I know of at least.
Here's a quick example, given "god hates fags".
Religious Person: GOD HATES FAGS!
Atheist: Why?
Religious Person: It's in the scriptures.
Atheist: That proves that god hates fags, how?
Religious Person: It's god's word.
Atheist: God wrote it?
Religious Person: No, one of his prophets did.
Atheists: So then it's not god's word, it's prophet X's word.
Religious Person: But god spoke to this prophet.
Atheist: How do you know?
Religious Person: Because this prophet said so.
<-- FAITHAtheist: Oh ok, but there's no factual evidence to support that. Btw I'm god and you're going to hell for believing such a dumb story.
You put "faith" in all of these fairy tale stories written by deceitful "humans" who are obviously extremely "fallible" in a religious sense. You have no facts. The only facts that actually exist are:
1) Jesus seemed to have existed
2) He died
3) A book was written in his honor
4) Millions of people were mislead
That's it, nothing more.
So you put "faith" into those prophets etc, of whom you have never met & been unable to actually witness speak, teaching, etc.. How do you know they are not corrupt like the hundreds of other child molesting sexual predators priests & bishops who use "religion" to gain access to children?
You trust prophet X, but what if he was really just some sick pedo?
When I read those violent bible quotes, I can't seem to draw a picture of "nice people". They all seem really sick in the head from what I gather.
Brb, cutting off my gf's hand.
