what happened to my ribs?

I was lying on my chest doing leg curls when all of a sudden i heard a clicking/popping sound in my ribs (directly to the left of my left pectoral).  After that there was pain if i put pressure on my chest or ribs.  I know it couldn't have been a fracture bc breathing was ok and pain wasn't unbearable.

I don't believe i injured it before, it did feel awkward though when i was doing some knee hug stretch by rolling on my back few days earlier.

It's painful to press down on my chest / rib cage or lie face down.  I do have another injury sustained to my sternum years ago that is still taking time to heal, sometimes i can hear the cartilage cracking, but that is different from this injury.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

rest it and ice it for a couple of days. then gently try to exercise the area again. if that doesn't work and the pain persists, see a doctor.
Muscles are nonsensical they have nothing to do with this bullshit.
