This is so true, it is sad we don't have vertec measurements for many athletic beasts. Plus for those that we do, we sure don't have a clue at what condition they were when they recorded it. Best example, Russel Westbrook, his draft measurement were 30'' SVJ / 36,5'' RVJ, yeah, right!

ya that looks like 12'6".. if the bottom rung was even with the rim, it would be 12' max. But, the bottom rung looks like it's ~6" above the rim, so 12'6". IIRC, the increments on the vertec bar go up by 6", so, 84", 90", 96", 102", 108", 114", 120", 126".  I think 126" (10'6") would be a "custom line" on the bar; ie, it doesn't come default/officially marked on the vertec, but, you could create a marking with a marker on the bar, there's enough room. Not much room after 10'6" though.

also.. vertec jumps are becoming way more popular lately, which is great! we've always loved vertec footage, now it seems people are realizing it's youtube worthy in and of itself.

FWIW each vane on the vertec is a half inch....according to their website.


Annnnnnd if one wanted to watch someone touch the top of the backboard then thats pretty easy....

Just go watch the Venice Beach Leagues dunk contest each year. They have a max reach comp (they have a vertec with a bell on it and keep raising it until no one can hit it). I wanna say a guy by the name of Stretch McCauley gets it each year.

the best part to me about the crazy high lebron jumps is that he weighs like 265 pounds. he's fucking huge! and he gets all the weight so high up off the ground. amazing.

Yes, it is amazing, every time i see such a jump from him i try to imagine being 270lbs and jumping off 1 leg, i would barely jump over newspaper.

Since we got there already, what about high-flying 350lbs, even off 2?
