This guy has air balled freethrows to the left or right.... it's never been done in the nba, people have airballed short, but never to the left or right of the hoop.....

you'd think since he's playing elite bball he might want to correct his form or work on it..... if he can't even do that than maybe he shouldnt be in nba and be an orchard picker or something.

Reality check : this "big douche bag" that "shouldnt be in nba and be an orchard picker or something" has a near double double career average, between other awards and achievements was 2 times an all star and 2 times in NBA-all-defensive team and is on a 75 million contract earning 17.5 million dollars a year! You mad? You jelly?

Basketball ain't all about shooting, which it seems appeals to you and it's good to have, but this guy is a monster in defense and will dunk all over the players and works well with the team, so one negative, which is outshine by the many positives that the negative is not going to affect his game. Note: He is in the NBA, they wouldn't have let him join; noting it is nearly impossible to get on the NBA, if he was bad.

joakim isn't a shooter. if it were easy to fix, he would. that's probably due to over a million shots with bad form.

here's the most simple solution to this "story". anyone (FDL) who thinks it's easy to improve freethrows/shooting percentage, do this:

1. train the ability to shoot with your off hand
2. once you get proficient, report back
3. use it in games, report back

it's a solid experiment IMHO... most people are virgins with their off hand, here you have a clean slate.. can start from scratch with perfect form.

I've done it .. took like 6 months to get really good with my left in practice, then another 6-12 months to be able to pull it off confidently in games (mostly street games, wasn't playing in leagues/school at the time). I was a shooter though.. the hardest part if the confidence of using it in a game. So, take that idea to someone who shoots with "sh*t form" or has confidence issues to begin with, or someone who just isn't a good shooter, and try to develop the ability to shoot high percentage freethrows in games?? it's so damn difficult. If it weren't difficult, these guys you see being paid millions of dollars would just do it.. does anyone here think they want to shoot 60% or less from the line?

that's why this argument always annoys me..

if it were easy, they would fix it. no one in their right mind would want to keep bricking freethrows especially in critical situations. You can even have amazing shooters who can't hit freethrows & shots in the clutch, there's a massive mental/sports psychology side of it in actual games.

I dunno, maybe I should leave this forum, not many vertical jump guys are even here anymore ...... you don't train for vert, lbss doesn't anymore, raptor is gone, chrism isn't here too much, entropy is doing a lot of overall strength.....

it's down to myself, scooby, and maybe seif and fp that actually train specifically for vert/speed......

ADARQ acheived beast mode in vert training already, now he is becoming a beast in running
LBSS Achieved beast mode in vert training already, now he is becoming a beast in calisthenics
Raptor already achieved beast mode in vert training already, now he is becoming a beast in physics
Entropy already achieved beast mode in vert training already, now he is becoming a beast physically
and many more others have achieved beast mode

I myself have yet to reach beast mode and am still training to get there and I am lucky to have the people above who have achieved it to be here to help people like myself and you would be too if you were less arrogant and more humble.

This is literally the last offer you will get here as you've somehow managed to piss off the most tolerant and good-natured moderator on the internet. Like I said before, no hard feelings on my part, and I think you need motivation to stop you getting distracted and melting down all over everyone's favourite forum.

I think you really struggle with the perception that you got stuck with a dud genetic mix - this is evident from your numerous posts about PEDs, athletes wasting talent etc. If you leave that behind and focus on becoming KF-like (which you are sort of doing), you'll make great gains. You need to trim a ton of fat, get your posture right, start doing athletic movements (avoiding jumping is not the best thing for you, you need co-ordination and RFD. Tempo sprints would be dynamite for you right now) and generally stop complaining/trolling all over the forum. Despite what you think, you can only train on anger for so long before you get burnt out. Better to feed off the positive energy of your gains as they come in. My 2c, possibly the last you'll get.

^ The genetic dud mentality is toxic, we've seen this attitude alot. If someone finds themselves doing it: acknowledge it & try hard to purge it from the brain. I've had thoughts like that, anyone can get them, but they are most often more destructive than constructive & should be acknowledged as such.

The mental game of improving athletically is very important; this is one of many components someone may need to address in order to avoid sabotaging themselves.

I know alot about anger training. I've used it quite successfully for long periods of time (years), but like acole said, it *never* lasts. When you use anger as fuel, it burns strong for a while. But once that anger is gone, you find yourself completely lost. It's very hard to re-establish a new motivation as fuel once that happens, instead it almost seems like one needs a long period to "reset", while utilizing some kind of maintenance work to avoid detraining completely.

TBH, i'd rather reinvent (rearchitect) my real self than invent fake selves. If my online-self sucks, i'd rather improve it & thus improve my real self.

If I had to say anything i've improved over the years online, it would be my ability to not respond to fire with fire. I used to respond to most of the negative comments on my dunk/jump videos, or in threads on other forums etc. I've slowly trained the ability to either ignore those comments, or respond more professionally. I prefer the new me, rather than the "fire with fire" me. I've also personally found it easier to eviscerate people attacking me by responding respectfully & thoughtfully, rather than emotionally. That is perhaps very relevant to recent discussions.

thanks i really like competition, that is why i like bball so much.

but it is not a fair contest, i have about 40 lb of fat/water weight, while you are already more lean.

Well however you want to cut it, e.g. I go from 30-->35'' SVJ vs you going from 24-->30'' SVJ. I have a lot of strength to gain and no newbie gains on jump, whereas you need to drop weight and maintain strength, plus newbie gains from not jumping at all. Of course I'd just be happy to see you training hard, getting healthy and generally not annoying everyone.
