This thread gave me some good laughs. Not sure if it's all true but seems fairly legitimate:

My gut feeling was Lebron going to LA was him saying that's enough of this basketball stuff now to do other things in life. But i don't even think he expected the team around him to be this poor. Ive thought this since his Miami days but he Lebron has really has been the worst off-court custodian of his GOAT player legacy. He should have put himself in better situations to win than he has. It's clear to me had he been more discriminating, he would have left Cleveland sooner the first time, maybe miami a year sooner and definitely not gone back to Cleveland. They won an unlikely ring but nevremind that. Not even sure why he thought going to the Lakers while trusting that damn fool Magic would work well for him. I think he would have been better off going to the Sixers and letting Ben handle the ball more while he played more off the ball.

I've been puzzled by some of his choices with regards to the teams he plays for. It would have been a fairy tale for him to be a one club player at Cleveland and turn it into a powerhouse dynasty club. I guess going to Miama made sense playing alongside Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade. Even coming back to Cleveland made sense (the prodigal son). However, going to the Lakers is what killed it. If Lebron played for the 76ers they would kill it. Can you imagine how deadly a team with Lebron, Simmons, Embiid and Jimmy Butler would be!? Shiiit. On their day when EVERYTHING is going right Golden State could beat them but 9 times out of 10 the 76ers with Lebron would outplay them.

Off court I personally believe Lebron has been amazing. No crimes, no scandals, family man and he appears to be someone who hasn't let fame get to his head.

Him staying in Cleveland would have been ok if they had been good enough to put enough quality players around him. But they never could do that. That one ring he got in 2016 was from great fortune. Green getting disciplined, injuries, etc.  If you play that entire series again, GSW probably wins 8-9 times out of 10. One of the biggest factors that has been overlooked in MJ's career is how lucky he was with the players who were put around him, the Rodman's and Pippen's get the most due but everyone from Kukoc to Kerr and guys like Horace Grant don't get the credit they deserve. Jordan always had a top notch cast around him when he was competing for his 6 rings. I hate jordan though so i wanted Lebron to win the GOAT debate but he has messed up his legacy .. seriously lakers why? Hope he enjoys his time there he's basically where Jordan was with the Wizards.

I'd say the reason he didn't want to go to the sixers was because he wasn't sure Embiid would stay healthy (he has). Or if Ben and Joel would continue to improve (they have). They really messed up drafting Fultz sadly cos if they picked up a quality shooter that draft i would think Lebron would have considered them a lot more seriously. With Redick and a solid young guard they're looking pretty damn complete. Offensively if gives them so many options - the length and size and athleticism would be incredible and they could have improved by having Lebron guiding them to a ring. Guess we don't know what he was thinking but maybe basketball after so many years is just something he's not that crazy about anymore..

like maxent said, Cleveland did *nothing* to keep him. They gave him no support. He saw what happened to A.I. he wasn't about to go out like that. . I love how he left. I also love that he went back and got them to the finals 3 times against one of the most lethal NBA teams in history, and somehow got a title against them - that's insane.

I love that he went to LA. I mean, i'd rather him have gone to a less "dynastic" franchise, but going to LA was a ballsy move, huge risk. That org is all about titles - yet their team has sucked since Kobe left. He goes there to try and "restore greatness", and somehow beat the Warriors/Rockets in the West Conf playoffs and get some easier wins against the East. Sounds like a fantasy but i'm sure Magic will give him some crazy support next year. Lakers were looking decent before LEBRON got hurt. Really hoping they make the playoffs, just to see what Lebron can pull off there, but that's looking very unlikely now. sucks that a rare LEBRON injury derailed it.

As for LA vs DET, i mean it's kind of obvious to me.. Lebron lives somewhere in California now. Living in Calofirnia is generally more appealing than living in Detroit. lol.

This ^. They were looking half decent with a healthy Lonzo and Lebron. I'm amazed at the difference without Lonzo tbh. Lebron still looks like he's not 100% though so I think their year is over. I would be hugely surprised if they weren't stacked come the beginning of next season though.

MIAMI HEAT.

man o man. some tough games lately and they are pulling out the W's. barely holding on to that 8th spot. really hoping to see WADE in the playoffs.

MIA has a really solid team. they can shock anyone, so many weapons.

HEAT pretty much L'n themselves out of the playoffs. So many close games this year.. sucks :/

don't see how they will make it now.. 38-41, 3 games left. Orlando just keeps winning.

Heat have Raptors, 76rs, Nets.. probably end up 40-42, but that's assuming they can get a big W vs 76rs.. 39-43.

Orlando have Celtics, Hornets... probably end up 41-41.

wrecked.

Nets (39-40) have Bucks, Pacers, then Heat..

Nets have a tough finish just like us, with a possible playoff play-in game against the Heat in our last game.

that's cool at least.

Detroit (39-40) has an easier finish: Hornets, Grizzlies, Knicks. could literally go 42-40, or at least 41-41.

Heat need to steal one game against TOR or PHI to put more pressure on BKN.
