happy for GSW & especially Durant.

Got his ring. Woulda rather seen him get it on a less stacked team, but whatever.

Agreed on Durant. That's the silver lining of GSW winning.

Devo for CLE. Should have just given JR the ball every play the last 2 minutes.

ya man.. that was disappointing.

CLE should have been fouling like crazy the last ~3 minutes.. and then doing what they were doing on offense, very intense attack or kick it to JR Smith.

TBH, they "gave up" (edit: or more like, just accepted the L), they didn't fight to the very end.. and they lost by 9. They had some key missed opportunities in the last 2 minutes, turnovers/bad D - but that was because they had already given up imho.

JR Smith was automatic tonight, should have fed him alot more.

Would have just liked to see them play it more like an NCAA March Madness finish, where you keep fighting up until < 10 seconds, even if you're down 10.

Agreed 100%. They looked tired and accepted their fate. The shit thing about that is some of the greatest comebacks have happened that way. McGrady anyone???

yup.. mcgrady, miller, bird, etc.

never accept your fate.. by accepting it at 3 minutes, they gave themselves no chance to pull out the "miracle", and that helped contribute to the little mistakes/turnovers at the end, which looked so sloppy.. with no one near the boards for offensive rebounds. Bad look..

+1 to the "gave up" comments. cleveland quit with about 2:40 to go. there was an inbound after a GSW bucket where i said to my buddy, look at JR's body language. they're done.

then GSW started letting lebron drive however he wanted -- it was kind of fun to watch him destroy iggy one-on-one, but also kind of sad -- and milking the clock, and that was that.

Looking back on the NBA season, I don't see GSW being that much ahead of Cavs like everyone thinks.

I mean game 1 and 2, the cavs were in it til halftime then 2nd half got blitzed okay......

Game 3 cavs were up 6 with 2 minutes left......

Game 4 cavs blew em out

Game 5 cavs were in it AND kyrie started getting hurt.....

It's Lue's fault tbh for relying so heavily on Kyrie and Lebron all season, they have other weapons.... look at JR, Channing didnt even get used lol, shump, korver, derrick williams, and wtf why not give kay felder even if he stunk it up at first.... he's nervous as hell and was injured..... dude had a 39 inch svj!!!!

I'm sure they didn't train as hard as GSW either..... even though they said they "put in the time" .... bs....

Largely agree with you here. For me the big difference is those defensive lapses like when they forget to switch on a screen and let GSW waltz into an open basket. Simple mistakes that shouldn't be made at that level. Interested to see what happens in the trade period and next season.

But for now bring on Aug 26.

lol i'm not looking forward to that at all, mcgregor is going to get slaughtered.... no fun when u know exactly whats going to happen....

FWIW I think Mayweather wins but...

At worst McGregor has a punchers chance. He carries concrete in his hands and is a unique mover. He will come in bigger than Floyd with reach to boot and if Floyd is as defensive as he would normally be then McGregor has so much more freedom to move around. I think it's going to be a really interesting fight.

it's the biggest trick in the run game.. go slow to go fast. it doesn't make sense until it smacks you in the face and you're like ....... wtf?

^I mostly agree to that. Totals are incomplete information, they don't include percentages, TO ratios, gametime, ball touches, clutch etc. Also yes, if you give a player ( not everyone, but there are a lot more than just a few ) the total freedom, he will sum great numbers. But! This is the NBA finals statistics. No random teams get there. And no random player gets the ball so many times. No random players are on the opposite team to guard him. It is not a random coincidence that the previous record holder of most triple doubles was Magic. And the previous record holder for triple double average was... noone.
Yes, Lebron was overly 'marketed' too early and to a very annoying extent. But that does not subtract anything from his actual greatness. For me, at his 32, he is already a strong candidate for GOAT, and this is coming from a hardcore MJ lover that had the joy of being an adult bball fan during MJs prime, i didn't just saw and read it later, i was in my early 20s following it while it was happening.

I have to rephrase your last sentence.

I mean part of why Lebron is so good is that he was designated as the "chosen one" "king" since high school

I mean why Lebron was designated as the "chosen one" "king" since high school is that he is so good

Stat may be potentially cherrypicked cos it wud punish a player who averages similar numbers to lebron in 5 but had to play 6 or 7 games instead of 5. Not that im saying such a player exists. Who knows.
Training for balance in GPP and SPP.

MJ got so many calls back in his day, it was un fuckin real..... you think it's bad now.... go look at some of the old clips.....

Even Magic joked during a dream team photo shoot with MJ and Bird "You can't touch Michael [while about to put his hands on mike's shoulders] or its going to be a foul" lolol

this is just one clip i can find:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUFqnu0tHtE

theres more if u watch some of the old games in full .... but yeah MJ go the most superstar treatment of any player in sports imo.....

As much as I remember Jordan being great, best player in the clutch i've ever seen, I also remember him getting EVERY call. You couldn't blow on him or they'd call a foul. If anyone thinks Kobe got the most calls, i'm pretty sure they didn't watch Jordan in his prime.

On the flipside.. Lebron gets the least amount of calls i've seen for an elite player.

That's one thing people never factor into the Jordan / Lebron equation. I'd love to see the free throw statistics for both of them, especially in the playoffs/finals.

Yeah that is nuts. Lebron can get WAY up for his size.
