I played basketball this year on my high school's sophomore (10th grade) team, after basically two years of not taking basketball seriously. I was out of shape stamina wise, hadn't improved my dribbling or shooting, and I struggled during the daily 2 hour practices. But I got more consistent and better overall as the season progressed. But I know that I still have so much more to work on if I hope to move up on the totem pole (there's a Soph. team, JV team and Varsity team at my school... there were 2 sophomores on JV last year and none on Varsity).

I'm 6"2, currently 166 lbs and I played forward last year but I want to transition into a guard position. I need to get stronger and add bulk onto my lanky frame... also want to dunk by next year (I like to think big lol) - I can grab rim no problem. But my vertical is secondary to my basketball skillz right now.

My shooting is pretty ugly right now... I didn't attempt any jump shots lol during the season - just did post moves (hook shots) and drove in - so I need lots of help with that if I want to be a guard.

Was looking at some programs like Moroko's Better Ball Handling and Allan's Prolific Shooting, thought twice after seeing adarqi's Call Em  Out threads lol.

Just wondering what resources you guys can recommend for me to improve for next season - my neighbor has a hoop that I can practice on. I need help with the fundamentals and I just want to get better.

Any tips for how to improve my shooting/dribbling? As much as people here hate on programs and people like Taylor Allan, some of what he said kinda made sense to me (the whole being a good pratice game player that can only knock down oepn shots versus a player who actually can score at will.)

Currently lifting atm using All Pro's Beginner Routine, I was on SS for a while but I felt fat as hell and bloated on it, was eating my way to a double chin. Have upper body issues lol, I burn calories fast/am a harcore ectomorph.

just practice game like shots not only spot up shots.
when I get a camera I will do a sample of my ball handling workout.
for shooting make sure you practice your free throws after or during your workout like in the games. when u are tired.for spot up shots pick 5 ( corners, wings, top of the key )  and attempt like 50 shots from every spot. then do the same for 3 point range.
then divide your days in what u focus on. like on monday u focus on pullup jumpers then u do like 200-300 pullup jumpers + spot up shooting. tuesday u focus on shooting off a move etc.
good luck!
peace!

LOL.  Dude just practice hard and consistently.  There are no secrets to getting better at basketball -.-

Any tips for how to improve my shooting/dribbling? As much as people here hate on programs and people like Taylor Allan, some of what he said kinda made sense to me (the whole being a good pratice game player that can only knock down oepn shots versus a player who actually can score at will.)

Oh wow, Taylor Allan must be a genius cause he said that........ :uhhhfacepalm:  EVERYONE knows that.  Of course you gotta practice hard and practice at both practice pace and game pace.

Clever marketers like Taylor Allan say those things (which are true statements) but make it sound like some sort of secret so you (the customer) will think they have found the secret product they sought after for so long, when in reality.....  Do I need to finish?

Just go practice hard.  Consistency and your mental game is key.  Consistently work on your game and as you do this, you will be more confident.  As you get older and more experienced in basketball, you'll see what a big difference your mentality in basketball makes.
Goal is to dunk.

Vertical needed to dunk: 40"

Current vertical : 38.5"
