Dang I got 57 inches on this dunk.... 1.09 sec hang time, maybe he got a boost from his hand hitting the rim on the dunk
Even measured from tip toe takeoff, to tip toe landing 1.05 sec hang time = 53.6  :o

But at 5'9" and this head height to rim, it's sure up there!

isn't it possible for this method to give inaccurate results if you leap off with straight legs but coming down can be delayed by bending your legs and therefore increasing your air time.
Warm up drills
   - a walk, b skip quick powerful switch (heel to hams focus), a runs, dribbles small to big to run, straight leg to runs (force, reflex, go up/forward). force to hit the ground before it hits the ground knee/hip is at 90 degrees.
   - acceleration: low heel recovery, shin angle low, drive legs back before hitting the ground and drive thighs/knee forward not up
-------------------------------------------------------------
Measuring reminder:
5 toe to heel steps = 148cm
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Arm also aids the legs in driving it down with power - seifullaah73

Yes, but not many people do that naturally, as it hurts a lot :)
As your far stronger when you absorb the forces with a straight leg first

Also you use your judgement when setting the start and end points on the app, it's quite obvious when going frame by frame if someone is sand bagging

On first jump, 12 feet touch I got  49.4 inches
48 to 51.5 on second jump
48.4 to 51.7 on third jump
51.7 on 4th jump
52.6 on 5th jump

But on his highest 6th jump, it was slo mo'ed... so it's definitely 52 or higher

No slow mo on this jump, got around 51 inch
from flat foot takeoff to flat foot landing.
Since he is around 5'9" it looks about right as well

Measuring verts is a tricky topic. There are so many methods.

Measuring the height your head travels should be close to your real vert, which in this case he is 5'9 and the rim is 10 ft and let's say he got top of head around 2 inches above rim. That would be a vert of 53, so 51 sounds right.

But for me my head is 3.5 inches away from touching my ceiling 27 inches away equalling to 23.5 but according to flight time it's 17 inches.

Also using vertec does not really seem accurate as you measure flat footed but when you jump you toe off, so maybe starting reach should be measured on tip toes.

vertec measures displacement power, but standing on tippy toes requires no power :)
